Disappointing
I've passed by Raw several times over the past few months and always thought that it looked like a great sushi place. Wow, was I wrong! While the atmosphere of the restaurant presents itself as an upscale sushi place, the food speaks otherwise. Not only was the sushi disappointing, but I was nervous about getting food poisoning after having one overly fishy bite of tuna sashimi. On top of the fishy/skeptical fish, it was extremely over priced. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Decent sushi
I have went to Raw twice now. While the sushi is good, I think some of the previous reviewers may be jaded by the superb atmosphere. I have definetly had better sushi before. I typically get the special maki rolls over the traditional. Some of the rolls would have been a lot better had it been for more sauce or less spice. The spicy scallop roll suffered from too much cracked red pepper that mad the flavor bitter and too spicy. The addition of more sirachan hot sauce or kew pie mayo would have put it on par with my favorite sushi restaurant. Additonally the capital rolll would have welcomed this addition. The binny roll is one of my favorites here but the eel sauce was a little scarce for me. For better sushi without all the glamour I would recommend Aija's near 30th st. station. Their rolls were very close to the rolls i ordered here and each been consistenly better.

Pre-show dining
Superb experience, highest-quality, authentic cusine (rivaled ONLY by the finest in NYNY [but I must confess that I have NOT been to SFCA or TOKYO] and I eat very good sushi/sashimi @ LEAST 3-4 times/mo). But to call it "cheap" might just be a bit of a s-t-r-e-t-c-h! I personally do not consider $192 for two (2) cheap, though the meal and ambiance were well worth the price.

DELICIOUS
Raw is THEE best deal in center city. The interior is beautiful (you almost feel as though you should be wearing your Sunday best) and the food is AMAZING... and cheap! I don't eat sushi but there is plenty on the menu for me to choose from. My boyfriend eats sushi and he says that the sushi at Raw is the best he's ever had. The staff is VERY friendly and makes you feel welcome. I hope to visit once/week!!!

Incredible Sushi
This place is unbelievable in terms of quality and creativity. I've had sushi all over and theirs is consistently the freshest. They don't load you up with rice either, the pieces are large and filled with flavor, and served beautifully. Actually, my only complaint is the plates are too big to fit on the table, so be prepared. The hot menu (non-sushi) is also pretty great, a good selection for those who aren't so adventurous. And for those who like sushi but want a little flair, the special rolls offer an amazing assortment of flavors and textures. You can't miss at this place, seriously.
