Been there a few times & have to say I have been sucked in. Too often there is attitude from servers & too many hipsters hanging about. But when you get there on the right nights... it is perfect! It can be a nice mix of people & the food is delicious. The food keeps bringing me back.

the staff here is impolite. they do more talking to each other than serving and the food doesn' t make up for the poor service.

I have walked past this bar several times and I wasn't sure what to make of it. Finally, I decided to stop in with my girlfriend and we really enjoyed it. The food was excellent, they had great beer and wine and the staff was very down-to-earth. The prices are really good compared to the other restaurants in the neighborhood. I will keep going back.

I had the blackened salmon. It was well presented and had good flavor, lots of spice. The service wasn't perfect but we did have a large crowd so I don't think it was entirely their fault. Decent micro selection in bottles. I'd say it's worth checking out.

The bartenders are great at this place. Maybe the one dude is a little surly but he's not so bad. They make amazing drinks (try the coffee) and have awesome beer and wine. I think the food is very tasty and creative, prepared with some love, too. It's a fun atmosphere and the patrons are the nicest people ever. I have never gone to 1601 and not left without making new bar buddies.

I really like this place. Its a hip spot, everyone there is really cool, the food isnt bad, and they have a great selection of beer. y\You can even take it out too(Chimey take out up the street from my house? thats what im talking about)! Plus, its a nice switch up from the your typical local South Philly bar like Grumpy's.

I used to dine there often because it was so close to my house, but after an occasion when I waited 35 minutes for take out- and came home to discover my morrocan buritto was not very good, I decided that they no longer deserved my patronage.
