Ariana

This is one great restaurant. The service is excellent, the Hostess Ariana is very nice and friendly unlike in many other ethnic restaurants in the area. The menu has a great selection of ethnic food. I tried several of the items on the menu, and it is Amazing. It is difficult to recommend just one item, you simply cannot go wrong. If you are a first times you might want to consult Ariana with her recommendation for an entry. Not only the quality of the food is excellent, but the portions are quite large. In addition, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice, quite place with some nice music in the background. I highly recommend this restaurants for families, couples, or if you are just looking to get a quick lunch or dinner. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Lots of menu choices made this a successful dining experience for the adults and children in our party. Our youngest dined happily on a variety of appetizers. Our spice-wary pre-teen loved the pumpkin dish. Aashak and kebabs were very good. Afghan iced tea is not to be missed. We also enjoyed the doogh a yogurt drink that is served either sweet or salty (we tried both). Afghan ice cream and pudding (flavored with rosewater) were both big hits. Affordable and tasty dining in a pricy part of town. Attentive service.

Since we discovered Ariana by accident a few years ago (couldn't get into Kabul without a reservation and just walked down the street) we have visited many times. We love to take friends there. Informal, byo, friendly, helpful service. They will explain any dish, although the menu does a good job of that. We have never been disappointed there.

Have been there for lunch and dinner numerous times over many years. Consistently good food, hospitable service, and welcoming atmosphere. One of the few restaurants where you can actually talk to and hear your dining companions.

Great dumplings (aashak) and great kebabs in a nicely decorated restaurant. Very friendly crowd for an "Old City" restaurant.
