My friends brought me to August for my birthday. It was the best birthday dinner I have ever had. Everything from the scallops and artichoke hearts to the farfalle pasta with jumbo lump crab to the amazing creme brulee. I was absolutely amazed by the food, the service and the atmosphere. I can't wait to go again......in fact I just made reservations!

We hadn't been to August in a little while, so I chose it for my birthday dinner. What a great time we had. We all shared our appetizers, crab and asparagus salad, the best beet salad I ever had, and sauteed artichokes hearts. I had the farelle pasta with crab, just as I remembered it, my friends had the striped bass, tilapia, and the penne pasta with shrimp, we enjoyed a taste of everything. We were so full but had to at least share a dessert, so we had the bread pudding, the perfect end to a great meal. The atmosphere complements this wonderful food. Can't wait to return.

I had a completly different experience that the other comments on here. I actually had to double check the address to make sure I was at the same place. the food was the most subpar that I've ever had, the service was rushed and entire staff was unpleasant. the value and atmosphere were just as poor as the whole experience!

My wife and I ate here after a Phillies game. The watress was very helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere, and the food was perfect. We look forward to heading to August again!

Food was excellent! The place is very intimate and sophisticated in decor. The downside is that it caters to an older crowd, but I think that helps for a date setting since you don't have to compete with the noise in the other neighborhood places. We weren't rushed, and everything was delicious. I will certainly come back! I like the idea of it being BYOB, but perhaps if they also allowed credit card then I think more people would frequent. Cash only could prevent some even though I felt safe walking in the neighborhood with cash...

I have been to August about six or seven times now. I have sampled pretty much everything on the menu and never had a meal that wasn't absolutely delicious. The owners are the two sweetest people and the wait staff is excellent. The pan seared sea scallops or the tuna are the two best starters. As for the entrees pick any and you won't be disappointed. The banana bread pudding is amazing. They always have specials so there is always something new to try. The owners make you feel at home anf everyone is very accomodating. I love this place a definite gem in south philly. Everyone should try it.

My friends brought me here unexpectedly. What a treat. This is a totally cool place. Get the August rolls, crabcake & bread pudding! It's cash only but there's ATMs nearby.
