Ava's is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. I have recommended the place to friends often. The food is always well prepared. Even the bread they bring out in the beginning of the meal is wonderful. Cheese plate was exciting. Pastas are made on site. More than just one vegetarian option (more than most places) for my husband. Save room for the homemade gelato! Service was wonderful.!

Went to Ava on a Saturday evening with a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. Waited 1hour and 15 minutes to receive appetizers that were cold and salads that were wilted and tasted as if had sat out under a heat lamp. Waitress was completely unresponsive. Dinners were served after being at the restaurant for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Food was poor at best. Had to send some meals back and when this happened, waitress took the food away and did not return until we sent someone else to look for her.

Our first time at Ava's was a real treat. We ordered off the pri fix menu. The beet salad is tremendous and the veal scallopini was succulent and tender. I finished off with the mascarpone cheesecake which was creamy and rich. More food than I could eat but each dish was delicious. On our second trip to Ava's everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed the variety of dishes ordered. We dined early in the evening and so enjoyed the restaurant when it was a little quieter.

Ate here a while back. Far better BYOBS in Phiily. Would be surprised to see this place around much longer.

Everything was fabulous... from the food to the service. The veal is highly recommended as is the polenta fries. For dessert, the crepes are the way to go. buon appetite!
