Coconut Rice Haven
I've been going to Banana Leaf since it opened and have enjoyed every meal. I previously went to Penang, which I still enjoy, but I like the atmosphere more at Banana. The roti is delicious and I make sure to order it every time along with the coconut rice.

Not Real Impressed
Went for lunch with a friend. We weren't hugely hungry so we ordered two appetizers and a tofu (tempeh) curry soup. Service was nice, low key. Food came out fast. Too fast. You are basically getting buffet food when they can put it up that fast. The achat is supposed to be cold, which it was, and not bad, but nothing great. The fried tiny squid is candied. There were slices of dried hot chilis that I had to avoid to make the dish edible, and I don't mind hot food. No squid taste penetrated the sweet sauce, the chilis, and the generally way overcooked nature of the dish. The curry soup was the best dish we had, came with too little broth (which was quite good) and lots of tempeh. This place gives plenty of food. White rice was so so. I can make better rice and I'm not that into cooking. Bill with tip for two people was $28. Not sure I'll be back soon, or maybe we missed the right dishes to order.

plang plang!
the food here is phenomenal. it's not the fanciest place, but i go here/get delivery all the time when i'm in the mood for some good food, and i have never had a single bad experience with rude waiters, late delivery, etc... definitely check it out if you're looking for thai food in filly. plang plang!

Loud din, impatient waitress
I gave it the rating I did for service and atmosphere because of a rude waitress and bright loud atmosphere. It could've been higher, if the waitress serving our food would've been nicer, like the guy that was our main waiter. He was polite, friendly, helpful, patient, and gave us a few nice smiles. The waitress, even though I can understand her being busy and all with as crowded as the place was that night, was impatient and a bit rude when she brought out our appetizer and soup. Excuse me if I couldn't hear what she said over the loud voices in there from all the customers talking (I had loads of trouble just hearing my husband from across the table), but because she had to ask me what soup I ordered a few times (not loud enough for me to make out, obviously), she got very short with me, slammed the menu down in front of me. I started to flip to the soup section, but she reached down abruptly and did it for me, located the soup on the menu, and slammed her finger on it. How rude, I thought, then asked my husband (quite loudly, so he could hear me well) what he thought. He wholeheartedly agreed about the noise and the waitress's attitude. Maybe it's just me, but when I shop or eat anywhere, I expect to be treated nice and with some respect and dignity given me, esp when I'm generally nice to people myself. Everyone expects some good customer service so they feel happy, comfortable, and relaxed where they eat, right? That did not sit well with me at all. If it wasn't for the regular waiter being so nice, I might've decided to forget the meal, got up and left right then and there, and taken my money somewhere else. She really should take lessons on courtesy from the nice guy waiting us. The saving grace of the place (besides our friendly guy waiter) was the food. It was very good, and I loved every bit. But since it was my birthday dinner, and my husband gave me the choice of where to go, I wonder if I should've picked a different place. From all the restaurants we looked at walking around china town that night, and some sounded very good from their window/door posted menus, I feel I should've picked a different place to eat. Maybe next time, I will.

My favorite place - Really!
I love this place and so does everyone who I take with me (great date spot). I often enjoy foods from around the world not just by various tastes, but I am quick to travel any where within 1 hr of southern NJ. Compared to all of them this place really hits my pallet right. I lived a few blocks from there for a couple of years and went very often.Because they are soooo good and affordable and open late. Now I live across the bridge in NJ and go back regularly. For recommendations I would have to say: sushi, satay chicken, pancakes, fried tofu, pad thai, mango chicken, thai basil chicken... I'm getting so hungry just thinking about it.

Fantastic
I go to this place all the time for their mee siam- which is just under 7 bucks and gives you a generous amount of noodles, fried tofu and all the other good stuff- and I always tell my friends it's better than the pad thai, though they're both pretty comparable. I also love the satay tofu and I just tried the poh poah and it is also delicious....and still cheap! Service is also quick and polite.
