    Poor Service!

It has been an extremely long time since I have had service as bad as I did at Benny the Bum's. When my husband and I arrived, the hostess was taking a call of a personal nature. At least 3 servers approached the hostess stand and did not even acknowledge us. When the hostess finally got off the phone, she insincerely appologized and just looked at us. She finally said, "Two?" and placed us at the nearest table. The waitress's service was just as poor. The food was mediocre at best. When we were ready for our check, our waitress was NOwhere to be found. Actually at one point, the hostess was in the foyer talking on her iphone and there was no waitstaff in the dining room. We finally got our check and told her that she could take care of it right away, but because it was so loud (at 5:00 on a Sunday evening), she did not hear us. We were going to pay by credit card, but again she disapperared. We gave her another 5 minutes before we left just enough cash to cover the check and a VERY small tip on the table.

    Cut to the chase

Crabs are high here and not always good. Chances of getting your order entirely correct, especially in parties larger than 2, are slim and none. They're all very nice, though, so try not to mind too much. Much of the menu is hit or miss, but if you want to get to the best value in the place, go right for the "Bum Salad". It's loaded with stuff, especially crab, and with a fabulous proprietary dressing. I had it once during Lent and asked if I could get it without bacon. The chef even came out to make sure I liked it. Even a half-Bum is huge!
