Big Daddy's...Never Again!
Well....I had a craving for some down home soul food and decided I would take a ride to BD's. Looked on Internet, checked out menu and placed my order. They told me half hour, but because I had visited their establishment before, I knew it would definitely be more than 30 mns...so I took my time coming from Ardmore. When I arrived which was about 45-50 mns later...my order was still not ready! I did a quick calculation again just to make sure my money was right. Finally.... a lady came to ring my order, & it came to $49.14. Now I am no mathematician, but I am able to add and account for taxes. I asked the lady to verify the amount of the platters and it turns out that they tax you on each individual platter rather than the total order. Is that even legal? They also charge you extra for corn bread which is not noted on the menu. While I do understand that it is hard for restaurants, particularly African-American owned to stay in business, I don't want to be taken advantage of. I take pride in patronizing my own but if you want to charge me extra, make sure it is worth it! I did not like the yams at all! To add insult to injury, I asked for a menu. When I was exiting the restaurant, I heard the woman say I don't why people just don't look on the internet. I paused to turn around to respond, but then decided girl pick your battles...it is not that deep! I do use the internet, but then there are times when I want a paper copy. Using the internet is an option not a mandate. I think the bigger issue is why don't u have menus? Don't blame me because you forgot to go to the printer. When I go to a restaurant, I look at everything. Customer Service definitely needs to improve as well as the time it takes to prepare/deliver an order. I guess the next time, my ride will be a little longer because I will pass right by them! Stay Strong!

Big Daddy's? Chile Please
Ok so I moved near Big Daddys BBQ on City and Haverford back in the summer of 2009. From summer 09 to summer 2012 what a complete difference. The price shot straight up, the service got poor and at the times the food has been a disappointment. Fish? Sometimes hard and sometimes not, the ribs? sometimes tougher than leather and sometimes not. All of the side dishes are heated up in front of you yet it takes them 45 minutes to complete your order. A couple Sundays ago I went in and was told the fryers were off so all they could serve was side dishes. OH BUT NO MAC AND CHEESE AND NO YAMS. One girl stood there for 45 minutes for food they told her after the fact they didnt even have. Every order takes an hour to be completed but it really doesnt take an hour to fry 5 chicken wings. Trust me Ive fried them before. Customer service? CHILE PLEASE. The rude woman who answers the phone is just as rude in person. She will put you on hold for 10 minutes and wont think twice. THEY NEED MORE PEOPLE! The food is only good sometimes. I love to support my brothers and sisters but I cannot wait until someone else opens up in that area. BIG DADDYS IS A GAG SOMETIMES.

Too Long Wait and Prices went up!
This place could used a real over haul!. I don't know if the owner is in a slump or what. Not only have the prices gone up, the service is poor. I should not have to wait 1 hour for 1 platter of whiting and 2 sides. I really like there potato salad and greens too. Also, if they are trying to atract customers they are doing a bad job. When I used to come in maybe 3 years ago the music was jamming and people where vibrant. The counter in the store is way too high I can't even communicate my order to the cashier. The decor and plants are dusty and the 1 menu they have in the corner is the same one they have had since the place opened, price changes and all. Somebody needs to get investors or a loan to brighten this place up.

Better than reviews say
Whitimg and fried chicken were excellent. Potato salad and green beans as well! Haven't eaten here in years and was hesitant based on reviews but tried anyway. Happy I did! Carry out was long but good food makes up for it. Service could be better, not bad but needs work! Definitely call in for take out! All in all good dinner!

The sides are it
Everyone is correct the sides and flounder are the only thing worth getting, bbq should not be heated in the microwave, I waited one hour the last time I was there.

used to be ok, but now im threw
The only thing these people have going for them now are the sides, and they just got smaller! Prices are higher, ok its a bad economy but you don't raise prices and lessen the quantity. My third time trying the ribs after what i thought was a bad batch , shame on me , there either under cooked or over. Im sitting here no trying my best to get the one rib I managed to eat out of my teeth all for 30 bucks

good fried fish!
the best thing about big daddy's is their fried flounder. 2 really large pieces, golden and crispy in cornmeal. piping hot and delicious. smothered cabbage is good and their potato salad has the right amount of mayo, relish, onion and seasonings. their mac n cheese, sweet potatoes are pretty good. their bbq chicken is blah...baked chicken w/bland bbq sauce. their fried fish is the only thing i get now.
