One of the best pizza experiences ever. Slices were huge, the 'cheese' was shockingly fantastic, perfect crust, friendly staff. Can't wait to go back. THANK YOU! And please open your second shop in West Philly!

Excellent crust, really flavorful toppings, and tasty vegan Daiya cheese, this pizza here is really good. There's an attention to detail I reall appreciate; they order special vegan pepperoni from Chicago, cook their veggie sausage in "garlic butter", etc/ Sandwiches were good too, and the desserts from Vegan Treats are always great, but the pizza is the star of the show here. The folks running the place are super-nice too.

There aren't many good places for pizza in Philly and blackbird is not only delicious but vegan. The staff is awesome and the food they make reflects that. Even if you're not vegan it's definitely worth checking out!

Was expecting to not be happy with the food, thinking I'd have to go to Maoz or Thai food. The crust was fantastic, better than most pizza places I've been to over the last 25 years. Sauce was delicious - copius amounts of a sweet (not too sweet), fresh tasting, sauce that did not taste salty. The plain slice was great. The vegan cheese melted properly, tasted good. The nacho slice with cheddar fake cheese, jalapenos, sweet onions, avocado was fantastic. Never had a Mexican style slice before but it was delicious. The cheeseless slice = fantastic. Had a bite of friend's slice that had broccoli rabe on it - fantastic. Cheesesteak was ok. Could be improved by increasing the meat as the meat to bread ratio was off. They may have to use different bread or use more meat. Desserts were yummy. Drink selection is decent. Natural cola instead of Coke. Came back a few times since and the pizza crust is not always the same. Sometime perfect, with crispy, toasted bottom and edges and sometimes limp. I suspect this is because they just opened. The decor looks like a typical pizza place with a bunch of regular old tables and chairs. The prices are higher than your typical pizza place so they could improve the decor of the place. Not fancy, just a bit of an improvement. Mouth is drooling as I type this, can't wait to go back.

Wow. What a great find. The pizza is absolutely delicious. I had the "pizza" with the yukon potatoes. It was to die for.... My husband had the seitan cheesesteak. The only problem with the place is that they can't seem to make the pizza fast enough. I really wanted pizza with cheese and red sauce but they had sold out. I'm guessing this is a temporary issue as they determine what the demand is. When I visited on a Thursday evening, I was surprised at how many people were there (considering it just opened up). Now... if they would only open up for lunch, I'll be a happy camper! Can't wait to go back VERY SOON.

the slices were big, lots of vegan cheese! and the seitan cheesesteaks were great too. The seitan is thinly sliced, fresh bread, mushrooms, peppers, onions with cheese and a special sauce. WILL RETURN! Highly recommend for those looking for great vegan pizza.
