i recently went here with some friends of mine, and we were pretty dissappointed with the meals. It took a good 5 minutes to get seated, even though we were the only ones in the restrauant. Once we were ready to order, I was not allowed to make any changes to the meals. (Ex. didn't want mushrooms in my meals but said that they dont do any type of modifications. ) overall, i was not impressed with this place. i would not recommend, nor would I ever go back

I really loved my meal and the time that I spent at the cafe my server Noel made me feel like family and kept making sure that I had every thing that I needed. Before I could ask for more water she was walking to my table with a beauitful smile and the water. I'm glad I have found a spot in the South Street aera to chill and take dates from time to time. She made me feel like V.I.P.

Everything was better this time around I was happy with every thing I had went before and it wasnt as nice I guess they were new to the South ST. aera or whatever but This time was great from the food to the service we had drinks we ate and had a great time we had no problems ,water comes to your table beforeyou order and as soon as you place your order here comes the comp. app. not many resturants do that now in days. Give it another shot during the day on fridays or even a saturday they have updated there menu and updated there customer service it is truely worth it!

his is certainly one of those experiences I must share. Our daughter recently had her birthday and one of her wishes was to go to Philadelphia for dinner (which we do on a regular) Being Jamaican we decided to check out a Jamaican/Carribbean restaurant, so after scouting the strip our daughter insisted we go to Blue Bananas Cafe (big mistake). We were seated @ 10pm on a Saturday and after roughly 5 minutes we were ready to order, but we were approached 10 minutes later for our orders to be taken! We were then told that "she was the only waitress working tonight" and that they have no Jerk chicken meals because the meat ran out. Ok that really did'nt bother us because we didn't want that anyway. We placed an order for their oxtail, a soup and Beer. As I was talking to my wife about the restaurant and waiting for my beer I felt a little thirsty, so it was at this point we realized we had no complimentary water? After wondering why with my wife and trying to locate the waitress we realized we HAD TO BUY WATER!!?! I mean what kind of restaurant gives no free water! I guess they saw that we were annoyed about this and brought out a complimentary appetizer of a Mango salsa (this was actually good) with banana chips to pacify us. About 35 minutes into the wait for the food we began to now wonder what was taking, so long with our order. A few minutes later a tall gentleman comes from the kitchen area, begins to approach our table and then says "he has some bad news". He proceeds to explain to us that he is out of Jerk chicken, Oxtails and Shrimp... which we did not order. He then tries to further explain the reason why it took so long for them to let us know is because the waitres initiates the order at the 'order machine' but the printer in the kitchen ran out of ink and the waitress thought it was being prepared. This was an unacceptable excuse because any good waitress would have questioned the kitchen to see what was going on much sooner than 35 minutes later.

I went there with a couple of people and so had a variety of dishes. The service was seriously lacking, and it took at least 35 minutes after we had finished our appetizers to get our main meals. The coconut shrimp was served with ketchup, not cocktail sauce which would have enhanced the flavor of the shrimp. The brown stewed chicken and curried goat were both very tasty and I would recommend those if you don't mind waiting on food however the actual amount of each meat was very small. The majority of the plate was taken up with cabbage, rice and peas and plantains. Still all the sides were well cooked. The crab cakes were expensive and not that good. To top it off even though there were only three of us dining the waiter (who was pretty subpat) then went ahead and included an 18% gratuity in the price of the meal! Maybe he knew that he wouldn't get it any other way, but considering there were only three of us it was inappropriate. If this place had better service and lowered their prices a little I would go back but that seems very unlikely
