great traditional irish pub
i was looking fo a traditional irish pub in the area and stumbled upon brittingham's. what a great find! the dishes of the irish part of the menu are excellent and so are the burgers. they had a great selection of alcohol, and contrary to the previous review, there is no smoking. also, i loved the traditional irish decor, and was very surprised to learn the the building was originally built in the early 1700's!

Diner beware
I've lived within several miles of Brittingham's for 35 years. Twenty years ago the place was pretty good, but it's no longer competitive. You need to walk past a working man's smoke-filled bar to enter the restaurant. Service in the dining section is efficient, but the food is unimpressive. Most appetizers are unhealthy, fried things that lack originality. Sandwiches are only okay, Dinner entrees are good -- not great -- with vegetables that often arrive cold. Over the course of the past 10 years, I must have received cold stewed tomatoes a dozen times. Won't I ever learn! On a positive note, the bar is the The Best: perfectly mixed drinks and a variety of frosty brews.
