    Not all is how it appears.

    Our group of 6 had dinner at the cantina on Sunday night to celebrate Mrs. Foodie's birthday. The atmosphere was nice. The doors were open and people were sitting at the outside tables. Our drinks were served and seemed a little weak. I drank my first and asked to have a little more tequila in my second. It returned watered down also. The best bet is to order one of the eclectic [select]ions of beer. Since the Mrs. Foodie has some food restrictions we specifically questioned the server about ingredents in their dishes. We were not too confident in her answers as she appeared a little flakey but accepted them after she confired with the chef. Our dishes arrived promptly and included Garlic Shrimp, one each of the Crabmeat and Tuna ceviches, Cactus Pedal salad, Fried Pantains, a Fish Burrito, and Chicken Nachos. The food was acceptable but lacked the depth of flavor I have we have experienced in Authentic Mexican cuisine. The real problem started when we ordered dessert. The Mrs. Foodie was specifically told that her selection of the Vegan Key Lime Cheesecake was made by a local Vegan bakery and contained NO dairy products (to which she is violently allergic ). Needless to say by the time we arrived home she was doubled over in pain. Our experience at the cantina was not necessarly bad but was definately tained by the staffs inablilty to assist us in making proper dining [select]ions. The Foodie 4/21/08

    Cool palace if you a gringo. Put effort into it and you find very much better other place to eat and cost less.

    Yummy food and yummy margaritas. The corn on the cob - simplest, cheapest thing on the menu - is one of my top 5 favorite things ever.

    Its ok at best!

    I live around the corner, and when i moved to the neighborhood i went there a few times and now i find myself only ordering take out.... the food is ok but the service is poor and it is ridiculously loud in there no matter what night of the week.

    Good mexican food

    Very good mexican food nice cantina style atmosphere average prices salsa is fresh but not very hot.

    Fun and delicious!

    I recently went to the Cantina with my girlfriend for our first time. We ordered some drinks and beers at the bar while waiting for a table to open up, and the Dos Equis Amber drafts were perfectly chilled and delicious. We were first offerred a table in the bar area, but when we were informed that the bartender would be our waiter and saw how crowded the bar was, we decided to wait for a real table in the dining room. Although very loud in there, it was worth the extra wait. Our waiter was prompt, friendly, and quick to refill our drinks. We ordered 2 burritos - the Chicken and the Goat (!). The chicken was absolutely delicious, the flavoring on the chicken was incredible, and the goat was tasty, although admittedly I've never eaten goat before and it was clearly not as good as the chicken. The dining room seemed to be a great place for big groups, as there were many in there. We'll definitely be back!

    When the spot first opened the head chef came right from Alma de Cuba. Needless to say the food was amazing and I had no problem spending a lot of money because I always left satisfied. Well, he no longer works there and even though the food is decent, its not original and is not worth how much they charge.
