    What a Jip!!

This place is a jip! But don't take my word for it; see for yourself: Here are some observations to make: 1) Food prices WAY over the market value of this area, and food taste / quality. 2)Food flavors are not what the names and descriptions of the menu advertise - instead, there are servings of "plain" with "not completely done" for dessert. 3)It's completely empty on most days, and at most times. I know I said you should see for yourself, but then again, just save your money. Not worth even finding this out. I recommend Sabrina's on Christian - between 9th and 10th, or even Villa Di Roma - a basic food place for the locals (more than anything else).

    Just like eating in Italy!

Carluccio's is a wonderful experience. We have eaten there over 6 times now and the food is consistently top notch. The owner and chef came to greet us during our meal every time! 4 of the five visits someone had the paparadelle con fungi and it was perfect every time. And every special we tried has been extremely fresh down to the microgreens. The atmosphere of this restaurant is exactly like eating in a trattoria in Italy. They are also quite family friendly. Do not miss a chance to experience this amazing find!

    Wonderful byo!

What a great find. Truly an enjoyable experience. High-quality food, excellent service and first-class hospitality. Carluccio’s aims to please and they succeeded! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Perfection in the Form of Carluccio's

The food here is unbelievable! I think it has now become the best kept secret in South Philadelphia and needs to be known! It is a nice, cozy, restaurant from the outside but inside the juices and the flavor the food is pouring forth! The food is made fresh daily and the menu changes constantly. I have not had the same thing twice since I have been there - the specials are truly beyond special and the service of not just the waitstaff but of the chef, Carlo, is exceptional. His attention to detail in his masterpiece creations as well as his attention to the customer is outstanding. He personally comes up to you and introduces himself, which gives his restaurant that certain element that is often missing from others. I would definitely recommend this place beyond all others. It has that home feeling - that "I'm not just eating dinner with the people I came with but my family."

    Good Authentic Italian Food

I get so tired of every Italian restaurant having the same exact menu. I had the risotto with crab meat and asparagus and it was great. I really suggest to try this little byob.

    Excellent all around!

The first time I walked into Carluccios, I fell in love. This little italian restaurant made me feel at home as soon as I stepped in the door. I was immediately greeted by the owner/head chef, Carlo. He treats everyone that comes to his place like family. I am a vegetarian, and he made something special just for me. The food was delicious and the desserts are phenominal! Everything from the food, to the atmosphere, to the hospitality is worth a trip. Trust me, you'll love it!

Too expensive for Bella Vista Byob

Went over with a few friends, food was ok, Carlo needs to be more consistent. More important, the prices match some of the better Byob's in center city, food not even close.....for instance the papardelle with truffles cost $22, Melograno, only charges $14 plus it's much more authentic. Desserts are also too expensive and just ok. It would be best if the owner did less smoking and more consistent cooking and lower the prices if he wants more than 5 clients per night.
