What happened to Celebre's pizza??
For 28 years I lived 3 blocks from Celebre's Pizza and ate there last week with my family. The pizza was not good! It was not the same in any way from the way it was. The crust tasted and looked like carival pizza - already made. The cheese was on top of the sauce instead of the sauce bubbly on top of the cheese. The last time we ate there was about 4 years ago before the circus and it was how I remembered it. Last week I asked the waitress and she said it was the same owners, but depending on who makes the pizza it tastes different??

so-so
We frequently order from Celebre's, more out of habit than anything else. The pizza is almost always overcooked, with the cheesy being a crusty brown rather than soft and melty and the bottom being a dark brown or even black, rather than golden. If they didn't consistently overcook the pizza, it would be good. The sauce is tasty and the crust would be tasty if it wasn't overcooked.

Grease...glorious grease
If you like cheap dough, fake cheese, and lousy pizza, this is the place for you. We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni. The pepperoni was thin enough to read through, so the grease didn't come from there. The grease had no resemblance to olive oil...so it wasn't that. But, fake cheese is made with milk and what...OIL. The bottom of the box nearly broke from the oil soaked pizza.

Celebre's is not what it used to be (5/2009).
We have enjoyed Celebre's Pizza for over 40 years. Until a year or so, it was the best in South Philly - bar none. Something has changed at Celebre's. The last several times we ate their pizza, it tasted like cardboard. It had very little cheese of red gravy. It was greasy. It was much baked too hard. We are wondering if they sold out to new owners, have new management, or are just severely cutting corners on the ingredients and preparation.

Best Pizza Anywhere
My family and I have been going to Celebre's for 40 years since my kids were little. We love it there and now are taking my grandchildren who love it. Always great service, especially from Gloria and always great food.

Celebre's rocks!
I have been going to Celebre's since I was a little girl in the 80's and to this day, I think their pizza is among the best I've ever had. I'm now living outside of Philadelphia and still make the trip to South Philly! The pizza is delicious and pairs perfectly with a cold root beer ;-) I'd recommend it to anyone!! (Beware the lack of parking - Chickie's and Pete's hogs it all up)
