Small, Cozy Hidden Gem
There hasn't been a review in over a year, so here's an update: This place is awesome! They've re-done their menu, combining a mixture of "tapa-style" plates with a moderate selection of entree sized portions. There's a nice list of a la carte cheeses and meats, all of which come with nice relishes/spreads, etc. The salads are fresh and interesting, and a nice appetizer side. Recently, I had the cauliflower puree soup and it was amazing. The atmoshpere is small and cozy, with probably less than 20 tables, intimate lighting and a lively, but not loud bar crowd. The waiter, George, is often on hand to take orders and chat it up. The wine selection by the glass is good, many small producers that I had never heard of. Also, the upstairs is very nice for a large party, and the party menu seems reasonable. There is no reason not to make Chick's a regular stop on the neighborhood circuit.

Hidden gem
This is the friendliest, most helpful and informative staff a bar has ever had, with a great beer, cocktail and wine list. The mixed drinks are some of the best I've ever had. The food is good, but the menu is limited. The atmosphere is outstanding. Finally a bar where I can have a conversation and actually hear myself think. The reviewer complaining about the decibel level must be thinking of another bar because I've come here nearly a dozen times, and I thank god everytime for a place that doesn't drown out the customers with loud and annoying music.

loud!
Don't go here expecting to be able to carry on a conversation at a normal volume level. It is incredibly loud inside. Food is decent but overpriced.

Just Average
The service is good here but the food is just average at best and the small portions leave you hungry to go eat somewhere else after you pay

surprisingly superb
I live in the neighborhood, and since its re-opening under the new/ current management my husband and I had visited Chic's for a nightcap after dining at other restaurants several times before returning home. One night, however, we had little time before having to relive our babysitter, who has a better social life than us. We decided to dine close to home. We decided to try Chic's. It was excellent!! The quality of the food and wine selection are excellent. The atmosphere is cozy, and the prices were reasonable. We often dine at several of the great five star, well known fine dining establishments of Philadelphia. Chic's can compete with the best!

Amazing!
Wow, Chick's is amazing! Neither my friend nor I really like wine, so we went here hoping to get some guidance and find a wine we liked. The staff was really great about suggesting and letting us taste different wines, was very friendly, and well informed about the food and wine. Not only did we each succesfully find a wine that we enjoyed, but also the food was suprisingly delicious. I wasn't very optimistic about ordering food with ingredients I couldn't pronounce, but everything ordered was delicious. I don't think you could go wrong at all with this place!!

New and unusual in South Philly
Not your ordinary run of the mill restaurant, this cafe offers unusual and delicious small plate fare.A warm and friendly atmosphere, with an amiable staff and a great selection of wines.Intimate, cozy and relaxed. Unhurried dining at reasonable prices. Just what Philly needs!
