Favorite Ever
Been going to Chinks since 1960, also visited all the other steak shops in Philly but none can compare to theirs. Doesn't matter what you name it the steaks will always be the best in Philly. We moved to Montgomery County and still go down to Now Joe's for our steak sandwich.

Long time Chinks customer
I have been going to Chinks since I was 12 years old, I am 69 years old now. So I have had many many meals here. I have not been there yet since changing over to Joes, but plan to visit this weekend. Hopefully it will be the same experience I am used to.

Best cheesesteak in the NE!
Always fast, yummy, and a great value! Go on Wed. They offer a $6 cheesesteak special.. Just wish they delivered. And also, if you haven't eaten inside I HIGHLY recommend it! They have so many things other than just steaks and they're all yummy! They're milkshakes are awesome and the cheese fries are delish!

"Steak" your Claim
What a fabulous surprise! The Tacony neighborhood was sort of interesting, and be warned not to judge Chick's by the exterior. It is an old fashioned Soda Fountain offering a great cheesesteak that will be joyfully served to you by a courteous group of people who seem genuinely glad that you have stopped by. The steak sandwiches at Chink's (not chipped like D'Allesandros or sliced thick like Tony Luke's.....and both of those are very very good) were perfect! Just the right type of steak for a genuine Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Can you say yummy? The fries were hot and crispy. They served a generous amount of "peppers" and pickles on the side. The place has been in business since 1949 so everything at Chink's is the real deal. There were juke boxes in each wooden booth, an old fashioned high tin ceiling with rotating ceiling fans and a genuine soda fountain with chrome pedestal l stools sporting brown "pleather" tops. All of this was not "decor". This was just the interior of a "neighborhood" establishment that has been around for 62 years and is still going strong. They also offer super thick milkshakes, old fashioned ice cream sodas, real fountain sodas with real syrups , real mixtures of soda flavors like "vanilla cherry cokes", and a variety of ice cream desserts. The soda refills, which they make sure to offer, are at no charge. Your sandwich will be served to you lossely wrapped in white "butcher" paper, no plate! Chink's is not fancy! Please go and ":steak" your claim. There is a good reason that this place has lasted so long. Chink's is not a fancy place, nor is it a place with any pretense. There is nothing artificial here. Chinks is a place to grab a cheesesteak , and it offers things "the way they used to be." Chinks has " old time" ambience because it is an" old time" place, and it offers honest food. It was a "trip back in time" that was well worth the trip For a taste of the past in the present, give Chink's a try. You won't be sorry.
