    It's a Restaurant and Lounge!

I was curious so went to Cobre to check it out and loved it! The place is beautiful inside. It's not a place you expect to see in North Phila. There was only 2 other couples there and its was pleasantly quiet for about a half hour. Then about 3 more employees walked in and started moving things around so i questioned our server who was socialable and attentive about what was happening. She said that after 8 they start setting up for the evening parties. Most of the tables were removed and a Dj was setting up too. Cobre turns into a nite club setting after 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays as other places do. So we finished up our food that was great I must say. I had the personal size Paella that was delicious. It took some time since they say their food is made to order. My friend had the Fajita combo that was large enough for 2. We also had some drinks from their speciality book and they were nice! Our total bill was not as high as it would have been if we would have ate in town so I recommend giving Cobre a try even more then once. I will!

    Unpleasant experience

It's ok to expect certain things from a "restaurant". In this case, you will be miserably disappointed. The food was similar to fast food quality but worse because it's not supposed to be! The service was even worse bc no one even noticed I was there waiting at a table. Forget about the customer being right- as a matter of fact my food was cold and when she brought it back it was microwaved to the point of being toxic. I didn't want to eat rubber but she made me pay for her mistake! At least I would know it's bad to begin with. This place puts on a big front and is a waste of your money.

    Good for what it is

The food is good and prices are reasonable if not cheap. They have no actual behind-the-bar drafts, which is no good for a bar. Service is a bit slow but it is worth a visit now and then!

    Soooooooo Good.

I've never had Puerto Rican food before and I'm excited to say, my first won't be my last. I had the pork, peas and rice and plaintain special--it came with a salad. Roberto was amazing with the salsa and as my server and bartender and navigating the menu for me. The food was so amazing I cleaned my plate. Then came dessert. I had the mango sherbet pie. De-li-cious. Cleaned my plate--Once again. I felt like such a pig, staring at the menu looking for more things I could eat. Plus the ambiance is super cool--so cool in fact, that I'm holding an event there. Loooooooves it!

    Not a "restaurant"

That's the tough part about menupages.com. It's difficult to distinguish between bars, cafes and restaurants. Cobre is a bar with a kitchen. My wife and I went looking for a restaurant and aside from the blaring music, and poor table locations, the waitress wasn't that attentive because they were setting up for salsa lessons. I'm not saying don't go there for beer and dancing and buy burrito when you get hungry. I'm saying don't go there looking for a sit down dinner. Food was actually pretty good. I liked my bistec al vaquero.

    Just plain good

My brother and his wife are in there almost every weekend. I decided to join them one night and when I tell you I'm hooked..I'm hooked the fried pork Carne De Cerdo Frito is the best. The plaintains are great, then drinks are nice and strong. It's worth the trip.

    Worth checking out

This place really is quite good. I live in the area and its worth checking into for sure. Go there and learn something about Puerto Rican food in addition to the Mexican fare. Such a bargain, it's a family owned and operated business that I'm proud to support.
