Cooperage

I have been to Cooperage at least a half a dozen times now as I work right down the street. I have had nothing less than a stellar experience each and every time I've dined there including lunch, dinner, and a very happy Happy Hour. I would recommend this place to anyone for an all-around fabulous gastronomically delightful experience. I even brought my friends with her newborn in his stroller and all the staff were wonderfully welcoming and accomodating. From the cucumber-infused water to the irresitable boiled peanuts all served with smiles and very helpful demeanors, it is a much needed and delightful addition to the Washington Square neighborhood.

My friend and I tried Cooperate this afternoon and had high hopes for this place, especially after walking into the beautifully decorated dining room. I ordered potato salad as a side with my meal, and she ordered hush puppies to take home. As I was about to take my last bite, i was still waiting for my side dish. I tried - in vain- to get the waitress's attention. No luck. I finally had to shout WAITRESS! She turned around and gave me a look that said 'how dare you!' She came over, clearly annoyed that I needed service. I asked about the potato salad and her response was 'oh, you want potato salad, ok' and left with a not too happy look on her face. I watched her serve several more tables before she decided to get my side dish. When it came I asked her what happened, did she forget it? "Yeah, I did." My friend never got her hush puppies - thank goodness we weren't charged for them. At no time did the waitress come over to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. Upon leaving, the hostess simply said goodbye, no "how was everything?" I guess she new and really didn't want to hear the answer. And the food was bad on top of all this! Except for the cornbread. Best I've ever eaten anywhere ever. But still not worth a trip there.
