Excellent Choice
Went for a birthday celebration. The service was excellent (thanks, Joe), the food was as well (the portebello appetizer was incredible). We will definitely return.

The Perfect Evening
Friendly and welcoming upon walking through the door. Staff treated us like family. Atmosphere was classic Italian, with an intimate feel. Wine service was wonderful, appetizer, delicious bread, and salad...perfecto!! Now...the meal...entrees were perfect portion sizes, cooked to perfection. My boyfriend ordered the "special", tweaked slightly to our waiter's recommendation. To this day, he can't stop talking about it, being unmatched to any other meal he's had. We were merely visiting the city for the weekend and, although trying experience different places on our trip, we actually wanted to go back to Core de Roma because it was that WONDERFUL. I can't recommend this place enough.

Horrible Service and Underwhelming Food
We were celebrating a birthday dinner at Core de Roma. Attracted by high scores on many websites, we traveled quite far to have dinner there. Let me warn you, it did not live up to its scores. We arrived 4 minutes past our reservation time and were told we would have to wait a few minutes for our table. It took 30 minutes to get our table. When we approached the manager about it, he got angry and was rude. He told us "there's the door! leave if you want!". As we were being seated, the waiters were setting the tables and actually threw the plates down in front of us. Nothing was done to make up for our wait. I was also excited to have the food as it had been given good reviews. There were plates of beans to start that were actually quite delicious. The artichoke dish I had read so much about beforehand was just alright. My pasta dish was very mediocre. All in all, very underwhelming food and service.

Amazing Italian Food
I was visiting my brothers in Philly for the weekend. We went out to Core de Roma on a Saturday night without a reservation.... bad idea. The place was packed. The only seats available were at the bar. No problem. My brother knows the owner so he hooked us up with a round of drinks on the house. We ordered an appetizer to share. We ordered the warm caprese salad with a balsamic reduction. It was amazing. The mozzarella was smokey and warm combined with the balsamic created a lovely taste! I ordered the penne vodka for an entree. It was alright. My husband had ordered the ossbuco. It was tender and full of flavor. The risotto it came with was creamy. Some of the pasta tasted homemade, while some tasted like it came from a box. The portion sizes are large. I had enough to bring home for lunch the next day. We couldn't order dessert- we were way too full! I wouldn't hesitate to go back for another meal. I've been dreaming about the warmed caprese salad since we left! I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Unfortunate mistake
After reading other reviews here, decided to try. This was an overpriced mistake I will not make again. Slow, below average service delivered food randomly and cold. Pasta was cold and pasty. Philadelphia has great Italian food, but not here.
