Love Criniti's Resaurant
I have been going to Criniti's Restaurant for years. I always go a good meal for a decent cost. The service is excellent, and the staff is fabulous.

Very mediocre
I had heard some rave reviews of Criniti's, but read some scathing comments, so i decided to see for myself on Sunday Feb 22. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were pleasant, but I thought the food was mediocre. I love a red gravy-style Italian restaurant, and am always searching for my Nirvana. This wasn't it. I almost always order Veal Parmesan. For one, I love veal parm, and I regard it as a bellwether. If a restaurant can't make a decent veal parm, then they can't do anything. The salad was weak, the iceberg lettuce wasn't crisp. They gave us oil & vinegar. I would have preferred a nice dressing. The veal parm was obviously overcooked. The red sauce was nothing special, and the meat was dry and overcooked. Veal should be tender and moist. My mother got an average looking shrimp scampi, which was as mediocre as my veal. My girlfriend fared best with a lobster fra diovalo that had a fairly good amount of lobster.

Criniti's Rocks!!
I have been going to this place since it's founder established it back in the 80's. Nothing has changed. The food is always fresh and delicious, the service is always great, the atmostphere has not changed even from when they moved from their old place a few doors down. It's a staple in the south Philly community and never disappoints!!! I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone who loves great Italian food!! My compliments to them for creating such a wonderful tradition and kudos for keeping this favored tradition alive in South Philadelphia.........I love this place !!!

fast food italian
The popularity of this place attests to the fact that many people value quantity over quality. The menu is what you would expect without a touch of creativity. The gravy comes out of a can. There are much better places for Italian food within walking distance of this place. This is the kind of food you'd expect from a strip mall in New Jersey, but they get long lines anyway.

Greatest Find!!
My family and I went to the Phillies game Sat. night and decided to venture further up on Broad Street since we had plenty of time before the game. Found Criniti's Resturant just up the street and stopped for dinner. Great place! It was PACKED with Phillies fans! The food was fantastic and everyone was as friendly as could be. My wife and kids LOVED IT, as did I. The owner even gave 2 loaves of their homemade bread to take home...it was gone by the next morning! Already have plans to go back with friends. One of the best dining experiences ever.

Not a good experience
Dining at Crinitis last Saturday evening was one of the biggest dissapointments we've had in a long time. We were a party of 6 arriving just before 7:30. We did receive a table promptly but in the middle of the room where we had difficulty hearing one another. Our waiter was very forgetful, bringing some of the drinks and not others. Clams casino were mostly Casino with very little clams. They don't offer salad dressing-only vinegar and oil. Bread was good. Dinners were huge dissapointment. Veal special included 4 1 1/2 in. squares of veal with whole sun dried tomatoes and a plate full of roasted peppers. Bland taste and poor value for money. Salmon smelled up the entire table. Pineapple sorbet had no taste. One of our most disappointing experiences in south phila dining.
