    Poor Quality Food

I went to this restaurant at lunchtime to find a totally empty restaurant. I ordered the Zaldo from the Ethipion menu and was extremelly disappointed. The injera tasted like water-soaked pancakes. The mix of collard greens and lamb was down right mealy. The menu said it had lamb, but all I found were jagged chunks of lamb bone with fat and gristle attached - no actual meat. The rest of the dish was the consistency of thin refried beans which had no taste. On top of that, my take-out container was not sealed/closed properly, so 1/3 of the dish ended up in the plastic carrier bag. For $16, this poor quality food was no bargain. The only thing I could recommend is the service.

    One of my all-time favorites!

I've been a fan of Dahlak for over a decade! I love the food, the manner in which it's served, and the wonderful proprietress. I've taken many friends here and they've all loved the experience. I find the portions to be more than adequate--I always leave feeling like I've eaten just a little too much. And now, when I'm up for something a little different, I can get Indian food as well. I highly recommend this restaurant!

    Weird combo

When we first tried this place in 2007, it was a Euritrian Restaurant and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. We recently returned to find that at least half the menu is now Indian and they do not seem to do either cuisine justice. Hopefully this is just some kind of adjustment period and it will improve with time.

    Portions are Miniscule

The menu at this restaurant is prix fixe only. $12 gets you one vegetable dish and one meat dish. Four of us went to this restaurant, and we each ordered the prix fixe, giving us a total of four meat dishes and four vegetable dishes. Each of the dishes was tiny and was sufficient to provide only a few bites of food. This left us all hungry, and we went to Acme afterwards to buy ice-cream bars to fill ourselves up. I do not eat at chain restaurants that provide superhuman portions, and I do not expect chain restaurant sized portions when I go to an ethnic restaurant. But I do not expect to leave hungry. The service was very attentive, and the food was delicious, but we left feeling ripped off.
