    Service annoying at 2100

Went to 2100 Spring Street and we were the only ones inside. The girl behind the counter took our order and our money but never gave us our food. After 15 minutes, we asked for our food and she said. "You wouldn't want me to get it for you, I already ruined two cheesecakes today." Would have been nice if she had asked the guy to serve us or at least apologized. She ruined a place we were excited to try. Horrible service and seems to waste cheesecakes by her own admission!

    heavenly

i went here, when i was visiting the franklin institute and i wanted to get a quick bite, so i asked the info desk person and she recommended darlings. we went and fell in love i had a chicken sandwich and my kids had grilled cheese and tomato. it was simple but delicious. the prices are affordable and the service was great. the owner even comes out to see how the food was. the info desk person said that i must try the cheese cake. it was amazing! i had the banana foster cheese cake. the crust had a hint of ginger in it and i thought it was weird but everything just works well together with the carmel, banana, and cream cheese. it was smooth and it melts in your mouth.

    Fantastic!

My wife and I stopped into the Spring St. location while out for a walk and it was fantastic! The dining room is well-decorated and comfortable, the staff were very friendly (especially Harry) but the food is out of this world. I had a slice of Bananas Foster cheesecake and my wife had a piece of their new Chocolate cake, and we were blown away by how delicious it was. Don't just stop in if you're in the area, make it a point to go to Darling's.

    What's all the fuss?

I read reviews on this website and decided to try the place. The place is really small. I did not high hopes for sandwiches, but I did expect good cheesecakes. And I did get good cheesecakes. Sandwiches were mediocre. None of us liked our sandwiches. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

    Not just cheesecakes.......

Not only are the cheesecakes the best I've ever had, but the cafe also offers a variety of choices for lunch and breakfast. I had lunch their a few times already... Excellent!

    Darlings #2

I frequent the Darlings at 21st and Race (next to the please touch museum) almost every weekend for breakfast. Harry is indeed as warm and kind as the first review describes. His food is made with love, and I have never met a man so passionate about cheesecakes. It's a great meal, but it's even greater to see a man living his dream with each sandwhich and dessert he serves.

    YOU NEED TO GO HERE!!!

I didn't know what to expect at first when I discovered Darling's the other day with a friend of mine. Checking it out from its front window, it looks like it could be like any of the hundreds of cafes around Philadelphia. That "illusion" changed quickly once we walked inside and the owner welcomed us and made me feel so comfortable that we'd felt we'd known him for years. His name is Harry, by the way. At Harry's suggestion, we had the roast pork sandwich, which was perfectly juicy and tasty. While we were eating, Harry brought us each a complimentary sampling of a couple of new drinks he was working on. Mine was a limeade that was out of this world. So then came time for the cheesecake. Expecting some pre-boxed frozen slice of cake, I was completely surprised at the fact that all of their cheesecakes are made on premises. That surprise was overcome by the even bigger suprise I got when I tasted it. I ordered the Creme Brulee Cheesecake while my friend ordered the Bananas Foster. The taste, texture, richness and presentation were simply perfect. We each ordered another slice, I got the Bananas Foster this time, while my friend took his turn at the Creme Brulee. Without a doubt, this is undisputably the best cheesecake I have ever ever had, and my friend agrees with me. They've only been open less than a year and already they've captured BEST OF PHILLY stature. The fact of the matter here is that this is not simply just any cafe. This place is destined to be one of Philadelphia's next great destination cafes. It almost gives you a sense of a revolution against the big cookie-cutter corporate cafe establishments. One can only hope. I wish Harry all the best of luck in the future. He's a great culinary talent with a great personality and an even greater idea. Do yourself a favor- go here.
