Ummmm..are we talking about the same place?

The mac and cheese was phenomenal and the chicken was TO DIE FOR! Amazingly friendly service. A little pricey, but worth every dime. You'd be a fool not to go.

    A Terrific Experienece

First let me start by saying I was happily surprised to find a soul food establishment in the station since I work in another city train station and we are deprived to not have soul food as an option. Secondly while I normally eat healthier choices, this day I strolled thru 30th street to see what my choices were and stumbled on Delilah's. I was drawn in by the sign announcing they were voted National Best for Macaroni & Cheese by Oprah. My experience was not only pleasant but delightful. The food servers were friendly and engaging and as an added treat I got to meet Delilah and her mother. I have traveled around the country and eaten at many soul food restaurants including NY TX LA the Carolinas and GA. Delilah made it to my top 5. My selections were excellent and I would not only try them again, I will recommend them to colleagues and friends who come thru this area. The reviews that I have read are very different from my experience. In the case of them running out, it's to be expected if your signature dishes are that popular. That's a sign that she's doing something right. As for the prices, again I had no problem with that either because I got more than I expected. In a realistic world you would understand these things however the great thing about this is we live in America where we have choices. So in the future make your choices wisely and be realistic. I did, which is why I can write a positive review about this establishment.

    What about the visitors?

I was surprised and disappointed about the food and the service. The prices were ridiculously high for what you get! The best things are the mac and cheese, the yams and the banana pudding. But when I visited (for two weeks in the area) I was disappointed when I tried for the banana pudding and there was none! The service reps didn't seem to care that the customer was disappointed. Once, ok. But twice? That is NOT right. You need to be better prepared to provide what you advertise and lower your prices! Not very competitive! I love the rest but please be consistent!

    Great food/Poor customer service

My family and I tried your cusine July 2008 @ the 30th Street train station in Philadelphia, the food was delicious especially the mac & chesse. We were dissapointed that you were out of a few things we wanted to try, we were simply told there is no more, but we will try for them again the next time we are n the philadelphia area. The customer service of the employees was very poor, there were no smiles, no hello's no thank you come again's. That was very dissapointing being that we were from out of town, and we all greeted and smiled at them. I enquired about your cook book and the girl just strugged her shoulders saying she didn't know about it, she told me to just go on the web site, without even offering to give me the name of the site. We look forward to trying another dish the next time we are in town, but would love to have better customer service, which will keep us coming back each time we visit the city.

    Being Fooled by the Name

When I think of good southern cuisine I think of good ole fashioned "seasoned" food with a southern flare! This is not what I tasted when I ate at Delilah's "so called" Southern Cuisine. I think it is waaaaaaaay over price for food that is mediocre. The only thing that was absolutely delicious was the mac n cheese. To be fair, no, I have not eaten everything on the menu. However, the main meat entree's were poor. The chicken, turkey, and fish simply have no taste. You have to soak the food in hot sauce or ketchup just to eat it. I think the young woman behind the counter has no customer service skills. A simple smile goes a long way. I am from down south. I grew up in Texas and Lousiana, so I know southern cuisine and unfortunately this is not what I was served. My comments are not meant to be rude, but as a customer who wants to support your restaurant and eat good food, I was thoroughly disappointed!

Oprah voted best mac n cheese!

The mac n cheese is good but the collard greens and the fried chicken are even better!!!
