    Great, a must!

So I ate here at the down home diner, yesterday for lunch sat at the bar. My server was great, very friendly. Had the hot turkey. It was very tasty I really enjoyed it. I will return thanks to the service and food.

    Mixed at Best

The food was pretty good but the service was so uncaring and slipshod that it made it hard to digest. Servers at diners can be a little rude sometimes, but at least they're amusing. This crowd is just lazy and clueless.

    Great

I must say this place was a very great diner, the food was amazing I had the burrito it was good made just right. And the servers were so friendly and nice the people here really make you feel like your at home.. But the bathroom in the diner was very clean I am so happy you don't have to walk all the way in the terminal and wait in line any more. In one word the place was amazing, good food, great service, and quick... I will return..

    Simply the best

I can't get enough of this place. Everything is excellent! The best burgers , ribs, and fried chicken. The soups are great. Try the breakfast burritos. The best butter cake and sticky buns I ever had.

    So so good

I don't eat a lot of chicken--especially in restaurants--because it's usually dry and flavorless, even in high-end establishments. I took a flier on Down Home Diner's cast-iron fried chicken, though, and now I'm totally addicted. Perfectly seasoned and very succulent. The greens it comes with for dinner are also superb. The whole shebang's only $11 for dinner; $8 at lunch (the sides at lunchtime are mashed potatoes, broccoli, and carrots--all of which are also delicious). I can't recommend this place more highly.

    Great soups

Like the new look and feel of the made-over diner. With its neon lighting and bright booths it's the perfect place to hang - and recover from the hustle and bustle of the Market. Thought the soups in particular were great...although service, esp when Diner is really busy, can be a little slow. But what do you expect..it's so popular!

    Outstanding

Far and away the best fried chicken in town (it's made to order). Superb collard greens. Decent macaroni and cheese. Very good grilled cheese. Near-perfect fries (just a bit oversalted). Heavenly black-eyed-pea soup (most of the time--only once it was a little dilute). Attentive waitstaff. Ridiculously low prices (especially for lunch). My only complaint is that unlike other diners, they don't have the same menu all day, but separate ones for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (hence you can't get the grilled cheese after 5:00 pm, for instance).
