    something special

I went to this restaurant with my wife and son, who took us there. It seemed to be very popular and we liked it. The tables are not too close to each other and the food was great. The only thing you have to careful of is that you do not eat too much. To begin from the salas table gives you the idea what this is all about. A lot of choices. Turn on the green lite and the beef, file you name it start coming to you to pick up. Turn the red lite on and enjoy your dinner. Pleasant service. Starting with the question: are you here for the firs time? Then, if needed, the waiter would explain the name of the game. Delicious food and nice place. I recommend it.

The good, the bad and the ugly

I have been to Fogo serveral times, as I live pretty close and it is the kind of place where I take fussy guests who like to eat expensively when I can't come up with better ideas. The salad bar is indeed one of this restaurant's best features. Everything is fresh and delicious and you won't be disappointed by its lavishness. The mean and the break, polenta and friend bananas that come with it, are all very good, too -and I say that after having lived in Argentina for a few years and being used to the best meat in the world. The service is, unfortunately, pretty bad. One one occasion I went there with my mom and my fiance and the receptionist was so rude, to the point that that I had to complain to the manager about it because it was simply unacceptable: she seemed to be bothered to be at work and was generally unpleasant. The manager was very kind and apologized profusely and got us free dessert but really, all he had to do was fire that girl. As far as waiters go, it depends whether you get lucky or not. I found that they can be put into place with a snappy comment or two, usually if they are too bad and you do get the occasional outstanding guy. It is a very expensive dinining experience, which can be fun every now and again: is it good value for money, though? No. You can only eat so much and most of the cuts on the menu are cheap cuts to start with so basically you pay filet mignon price for sausages, chicken legs etc. I keep going because it is close to my house and because at this point I'm beginning to know people there and get good waiters and whatnot but for a one off, I recommend you look elsewhere.

    It's not a restaurant, it's a factory

I've eaten at Fogo three times now, the last two because friends wanted to try it. I won't be going back again no matter how badly other friends want to go. (Note: no one I've gone with once has clamored to go back.) The wait staff is so "efficient" (read: they want to turn your table over to another group) that they literally were taking the salad plates off the table while we were chewing our last bite. The wine menu's markups are the largest I've seen, and the wait staff doesn't know anything about the selections - they pressure you to get a more expensive bottle but the only adjective they know how to describe the wine is "big". We've been disappointed with every selection they pushed on us. With the frenetic pace the wait staff sets, it's hard to relax and have a conversation. If you want a lot of expensive food, fast, by all means go. If you want an enjoyable meal go somewhere else.

    Great Salad Bar

I didn't get the meat choice, instead I got the salad bar which was great. It offered plenty of choices with very fresh ingredients!! It was quite expensive but worth it. The service was great, wait staff was very attentive, and the dessert was fantastic. I was very very very happy with my dining experience.

I have a small stomach for this

I went to this place with my husband and his family. This place is really great in terms of the quality of meat they serve and the variety of options in salad bar. But i gotta admit, the whole place was all about meat, meat and more meat and I felt kinda sick at the end. and I can eat meat only so much. (I am not a vegetarian by all means.) and I paid how much? If you are a guy with large stomach like my husband, this is the place for you. but if you are like me, it's really not worth the money.

    Interesting Brazilian steak house

Interesting concept, it’s an upscale Brazilian steak house buffet. I figured that we can’t go wrong for picking something on Chestnut Street in center city. That was a mistake. We had the worst services from our two waiter/waitress. They acted as if they had something better to do than being there. Both didn’t even bother to look at us when we are talking to them. They would ask how we are doing and before I could answer, they would start walking away and I’m talking to their back. Why even bother asking? Their timing is completely off. Both would interrupt us constantly when we don’t need anything, but when we needed them, we sat there forever waiting for them. Beside our waiter/waitress, the other staffs are terrific. The salad bar was great and the steaks weren’t bad depending on your taste. I personally like the lamb chop, pork rib and house sirloin. Our mistake was going on a Monday night. As the old saying goes, the best waiters/waitresses usually work on the weekend. The rookies get Monday nights. For $180 including tips, we were expecting better services.

    Meat-tastic

I went to Fogo De Chao for my 21st birthday with my girlfriend, and it was definitely worth it. I probably ate 2 pounds of different cuts of beef and chicken, not including the fried polenta, plaintains and salad... Its a lot of fun, the atmosphere is vibrant, but we could still talk to each other without having to raise our voices, and the staff pretty much bent over backwards to accomodate us. More sides? Didn't even need to ask. Fresh plate? Right away. Wine suggestion? No problem. Its not someplace you eat every day, every week or every month. But for special events like anniversaries, birthdays, etc... its definitely worth going.
