Went on a Saturday evening. Had made reservations for party of four on our way to see Sinbad at Keswick. Food service was extreeeeeeeemely slooooow....... Waitress said the were short staffed, but 50 - 60 minutes (no exaggeration) from order to service was ridiculous considering we had a reservation that the person at the door originally could not find. This was our first experience and probably the last, since not only was the food unimpressive, (shrimp and grits w/no flavor), and my guest didn't eat the African Style Chicken). My wife and the other guest enjoyed the pork chop and the salmon, I also enjoyed the sauteed greens, but what was really disheartening about our experience (beyond the aforementioned) was the cost $150 for four people and we were made late for a 9:00pm show when we had a 7:00pm reservation. Keswick is approx. 15-20 minutes max from Geechee Girl. Are you kidding me???? I felt particularly bad because I had recommended the restaurant and we would have been better off at KFC or Popeye's!!!! We made it to the show late but after this experience, I felt more like we had been to Got You Girl's, not Geechee Girl's. Shame on the management, praying for the people who work there, and praying for the people who pay to come. Recommendations: Get more reliable help, consider your pricing for what you are serving or scrap the a la cart style menu for this type of restaurant, reduce time from order to service, offer some specials that may take some pressure off cooks to prepare everything individually. No way can you justify charging $2 for a biscuit.

The food took a few minutes (15) but arrived piping hot and surprisingly delicious. Very surprised because a friend said she did not like the food, and service was very slow. I think because all food is prepared by the chef, it takes a great deal of time. She should really hire a student Chef from a local culinary school to assist. Other than that food was really good.

I don't like to review restaurants because I believe diners should decide for themselves...However, in this case I'm making an exception. This place is SLOW....two of us went in for lunch one weekend. Only about 8 other people were in the restaurant, but it took no less than 25 minutes to get seated...then another 20 minutes before someone came by with menus...and another 20 before a waitress sauntered over to take our order. No reason was given for the unwarranted delay. We thought about leaving but stayed....bad decision. It took at least 45 minutes to get our food. I am not remembering these time increments incorrectly, because before we went in I mentioned we had an appointment we could not be late for, but was assured by my guest we would be out in an hour, so I was keeping track of the time. And on top of it all, the food was nothing special. I only ate it because by then I was starving.... So, if you go, beware, Geedchee Girl is an endurance test.

Getting straight to the point! If bland, unappealing, season less food is your preference then this is the place for you. The over pricing of the appi’s, entrees and child size portions adds insult to injury. Honestly I’ve had better tasting, prepared and presented food, free at my Nonie’s house. Someone should clue the cook? That we eat with our eyes first. The only thing “low down country” style about this restaurant is the price and the attitude of the host/owner whom if you ask questions might tell us to just “SHUT UP” and eat. This place is definitely “caveat emptor” (let the buyer beware or better yet the EATER!)

It was our first time here, found the food tantalizing, service was good. A nice change in Mt. Airy to the usual. Very limited menu, but my salmon was very good. Would come again!

I've been there approx. 5-6 x's. The food was always good in the past. Went w/friends recently, and my order was fine, but we had to wait OVER 1 hour. My friend's order didn't look good; nor, did it taste very good. He let me taste it, but he didn't do me a favor by doing so. Service has seriously declined. I hope this changes, because what was once a very good restaurant is now mediocre.
