    Restaurant Week Disaster

I've been to Gigi's several times for lunch and always had a pleasurable experience which is why we decided to try it for dinner . A group of six of us went to Gigi’s for dinner during Philadelphia’s Restaurant Week. One word to describe our experience: Horrendous. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were told by the hostess that we would be seated in 15 min and to go have a drink at the bar. Luckily, we found three seats together. Four rounds later, still no notice from the hostess that we would be seated. Many other patrons were complaining about having to wait for over an hour and some even left to have dinner elsewhere. We must go give props to the bar staff who were very fast and efficient, making sure our drinks were never empty. Needless to say we were not seated until 9:45 PM for a 7:30 reservation. This was absolutely inexcusable. The service was extremely rushed and we even had to find our own menus. When the waiter finally did appear, he rushed us to decision. The food did arrive promptly, and was anything but average. Gigi’s is in serious need of management revamping. They definitely overbooked an already small restaurant and it resulted in a disastrous dining experience for our group and probably many more. The only people who did have a good time were those who had early reservations and decided to camp out at their tables for a few hours.

    Brunch

Went for mothers day brunch. Many entrees looked great on the menu, but the Eggs benedict stood out. However, though the presentation was nice, the flavor was bland. The best item I had were the Potato Feta cakes. Those were fantastic. Shrimp Frittata was nothing special. Service was great, however. Will love to try dinner.

    Paella

It was raining. I needed something warm and comforting to pick me up and Gigi's paella was the perfect thing. It had flavorful spanish rice and a ton of seafood and spicy turkey sausage. The sangria was really yummy too and well priced. My server was very attentive and was happy to answer all my questions about the food. :)

    Loved the empanadas

The empanadas were amazing; it’s definitely worth just going back for them. I loved the atmosphere and the staff. The restaurant was chic without being too snotty and the staff were attentive, but not smothering. Excellent cocktail too.
