Giorgio on Pine
Posted by Carolina Green on 04/11/2015
My husband, granddaughter and I arrived on Saturday night without a reservation (not recommended)! We were able to be seated at a small table (a little wait, but not too long). The food was really good. We had a calamari appetizer that was tender and succulent. I had gnocchi, my hubby had veal scallopini, granddaughter had spaghetti with marinara sauce. Everything was a delicious. We shared a desert of tiramisou and it was yummy, too. I highly recommend this restaurant. Giorgio came to our table to say 'hello', our server was very attentive. There was a big birthday celebration going on in the room next to us; it was noisy, but we enjoyed watching the fun. If you get a chance, try this restaurant.

Very quaint place. Enjoyed meeting the owner. Food was excellent!!! Need to have a place like this in Missouri!!! The sauce made the difference for me.

We have been there twice for family birthday celebrations. People are very nice, the food is good, but they could use another helper(s) to ensure bread is served, extra utensils are available, etc. Both times we were up on the second floor which I think is less noisy than the lower level. Overall a good experience and fairly priced. Will return in the future.

Went Sat. evening with party of four. Reservations made a week in advance for 6:30 (we asked for later but this was only time available). Arrived on time and told to wait (on the sidewalk since there is no room inside). Checked in a while later and told to wait. By 7 we started looking for another spot. Hostess came out and told us our table was being set. Waited until 7:15 and again inquired. We were told to come in and they had set up a little table with folding chairs in the middle of the restaurant - so tight we could barely get to the chairs. Told to wait again and enjoy the wine (our own byob bottle). At 7:45 a table was open and we were seated. The noise level was so high we couldn't hear the waiter or each other. Food was actually ok, but not worth the extreme hassle. Never again for this place.

great BYOB for Italian. Very very loud. Walls are low and do not absorb any noise throughout the restaurant. Food is good. No subs on side dishes with items. Mussels with white sauce is wonderful as an app. Book early.

Two words: Meat sauce. I cannot get enough, it reminds me of my Italian grandmother's sauce that would simmer for half a day to infuse the flavors. It is listed on the menu just on the gnocci but they will put it over whatever you ask. I had it over home made fettucini and I was hooked. I go every time I'm craving some warm home cooking & don't feel like making it myself. It is small inside, so on a Saturday night you may feel rushed, and I found the appetizers decent but unremarkable. I refer you back to the top for the only 2 words you'll need to know when you order!

During a week in Philadelphia we ate out every day at top rated places which were very very expensive but left us always disappointed for either service or food quality. Towards the end of our holiday, after a long walk, we found this little place which we wished we had stumbled across at the beginning of the week. The food was superb and the service was good. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY and DELICIOUS FOOD.
