Fresh, Fast & Fabulous
I ordered from here after reading a couple review blogs with wonderful rating and they were right this place is great. I received my food in less than 30 minutes via delivery (we do live only 6 blocks away) but still it was fresh and fast and delicious. I ordered our families fav General Tsao's, Scallion cakes and Lemon Chicken. Servings were generous, ingredients tasted fresh and my favorite part was the chicken was perfectly cooked not rubbery like many chinese chicken dishes can be. This now our place to eat Chinese. I look forward to dining in someday soon.

All Hail Sam, For He Is The Divine Power
I have been going to "The Garden" for at least ten years now, and not once have I been disappointed. The entire waiting staff consists of the friendliest little man you'd ever want to know. The food is piping hot and delicious, and for those who prefer vegan/vegetarian food there is an entire menu for you. Delivery is always fast, but I strongly recommend going there in person, if only to bask in the waiter's glory. He will always pour your soda for you, which is a really nice touch. Nowadays, I rarely stray away from the Lo Mein, but I've had almost everything on the menu and nothing has ever tasted bad. It's tucked away off South street on 5th street, right next to the record store and the obnoxiously exclusive sneaker store.

The best
This place is a little gem. I have been going there regularly for over six months and everything I have tried is very fresh and tasty, portions are generous and service is excellent. I also get their food delivered often and they are punctual and friendly. Another good feature of this place is that there is something to suit everyone, from 'standard' Chinese food of the highest quality to healthy and vegetarian options plus everything can be adjusted to suit individual taste. I can't recomment this place enough.

where is sam at anyway?????
im not too sure what happened but i havent seen sam in months i am a regular. i love the food. and its so south street. not to mention the entire staff is gone the food is now watery and that girl with all the glitter on her face seems so be badly covering up where he went at. if only i have a time machine i'd go back and eat more and again....my heart goes out to the lovers of sam........hopefully we will see him again.....

Sam, we all love you bro!!
I found Golden Empress after the folks on the Philly Blog recommended it. It's been my go-to Chinese place for friends and family visiting Philly for almost three years now. Sam is an incredible host and the food is fantastic. I'm a regular because there's no other point is going anywhere else for Chinese. Rock on Sammy! SS
