A friend suggested we visit Gyphon for lunch as he used to live nearby and knew they had great food. Not only were we shocked to see the restaurant packed 2pm, but they were out many items, including all bread except for one type of bagel. Dishes and flatware were also in short supply and they were well beyond short staffed. Being busy is wonderful, but being out of necessities for a majority of your menu items 2 hours before close seems absolutely ridiculous. Under the circumstances, the food ended up being expensive and mediocre. I might try it again, but it'll be awhile.

On a date and looking to impress on a post dinner cup of coffee? Go to the Gryphon. Need to meet with a business partner to draw up a new proposal. Maybe the Gryphon? Needless to say, this is one of my all time favorite establishments. Perhaps it is the inviting atmosphere. Maybe it's how great the food tastes. Or it could be that the staff, music and artistic draw just is that appealing. It is well hidden and a prize jem. I stopped by once 8 years ago and have been hooked. I think they slip something into the tomato carrot bisque or maybe Sean's vanilla-caramel lattes. Definitely worth checking out.

If you like freshly prepared, tasty food in a hip, but not-too-trajically hip local venue, then the Gryphon is for you. While every sandwich and salad I've had has been very good, sometimes the portions are a bit small. Enjoy!

The Gryphon is a smashing joint. Quiet enough that it is a lovely location to get work done or read a book, yet it is also filled with friendly folk interested in chatting. Games on the shelves give it a playfull atmosphere, continually changing local artwork gives the walls flare, and the fabulous food and staff make it feel like everybody knows your name, even if they don't:)
