    hidden gem

This is a hidden gem of NE Phila. Lovely little Italian restaurant, where you feel like you back in Italy! Delicious food, fresh from the market, home made pasta, see food, and pastry baked on premises, also hospitality and sense of humor--make this place a unique but still hidden gem! You can make a toast there with BYOB style! Highly recommended!!!! Try yourself!!

    Atmosphere, Food & Services

My wife and I experienced a lovely dinner at Il Polpo. Loved the ambiance and décor. We had a three course dinner and the dishes were perfectly prepared and the food came promptly. Il Polpo Misto is to die for.The waiter was attentive of our needs and looked happy to be there. Huge highlight was meeting the chef. He comes out to every table to introduce himself and see how your meal was. It made the whole experience feel special and we loved it. Can’t wait to go back…

    Food, service, atmosphere

just got back from Il Polpo - cannot have a conversation with screaming child - but no problem if food was good, order papparadelle with chicken sausage with tomato sauce which I was told was a smooth tomoato sauce. However what I received was pasta in greasy olive oil with no tomato sauce with very fatty chicken sausage. Complained to waitress & someone else who I thought was a manager who said "oh". Nothing was taken off of the bill. Also the gentleman at the next table complained he never got his soup & had 2 waiters/waitresses at his table & never got compensated. We went there because it got a good review in the Thursday Inquirer food section, but I don't know what that reviewer was thinking. I do not think they will be there in 3months. They need to go back to Greece or whatever country they came from & go cook there!
