    Poor experience

Overpriced, poor food. This is the only italian restaurant I've ever been to, if you even want to call it italian, that doesn't have any veal on the menu. All they have is chicken and a few fish dishes. We ordered 2 appetizers and a bottle of wine, and left in less then 30 minutes. The appetizers weren't even good. Every entree was with mushrooms in a blush sauce. Not too appetizing. Also, what italian restaurant doesn't serve bread with the food? They had dried out pita bread on the side, no butter or oil available. Our tab was $60 for the little bit we had. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There wasn't any atmosphere because we were the only ones there. Stay away from this place.

    They fooled us

Tight wine list with some choices not stocked. Tough veal. Mushy Lobster ravioli. Fresh fruit plate included an inordinate amount of marischino cherries. Wait staff was on her fifth "try". Explained that this is a Jewish Italian restaurant. Would not go back.

    How about Manayunk's most mediocre?

Let me start off by saying this restaurant is quite charming when it comes to decorative detail and romanticism. The food however can be beat. I ordered the lamb with roasted tomatos and mushrooms while my boyfriend had Salmon with Penne. Turns out the lamb dish was covered ( and I wish I was exaggertating when I say this), covered in at least a half bottle of olive oil. The mushrooms were full of flavor and delicious but not worth the plate amount and it also came with a mystery cake thing that wasn't mentioned. The Salmon dish was tasteless and had a few tiny pieces of salmon. With two iced teas this came to $60. Not worth it at all. I'm not a picky eater, I'll eat from a street vendor if it's good food. But I could have cooked these two dishes at home and would have saved $20. The people who wrote the other reviews probably work there due to being anonymous.

    II Tartufo

Contrary to the last review (11/07) the food at Il Tartufo is amazing if you want real Italian cusine. Although we live over an hour from Manyunk, or the city ,we drive out as often as possible to have Il Tartufo's oustanding food. Everything has a great portion for your buck. Service is great, every server we have had explains each dish in detail. Through my travels all over the world, including Italy, the food at Il Tartufo cannot be beat . If you want to take a date to a small cozy resturant with great Italian food this is the place to go!

    Tartufo is a rip off

Sorry, but I was very disappointed with the tartufo experience. The food was average, the service was reasonable but what realluy irked was the price. Six people ate with a very modest amount of wine and it came to $55 a head for which in downtown philly you can for only slightly more go to somewhere like Buddakan and have a culinary masterclass. The food should be half the price. We ordered an antipasto dish which ended up costing a staggering $60 which the waitress never told was big enough for an ap for 6 people which caused 4/6 of us to actually order other aps. Poor value.

Excellent restaurant - can't go wrong!

One of the best restaurants in Manayunk! Excellent food with courteous staff and a charming atmosphere. I highly recommend this for a special occasion or just a nice night out.
