Have always had a good time here
I've been with friends and had dates here. I've always enjoyed myself. The servers I've had all seemed to like working there. They've given thought to the food and the menu. The atmosphere is groovy! The bar scene is pretty cool is just a bit cramped! Not sure I would call the entire menu 70's retro food, but it's always good. Running debate for me is: whether the restaurant was designed after hte Brady Bunch house or (as rumour has it) the house from the Dick Van Dyke Show. Your call!

rip off
Have gotten take out from Jones in the past. Decent comfort food and good portion size, but really nothing which can not be made better at home, but it works well after a long day at the office. Recently, I noticed the prices increased dramatically, especially for a comfort menu including fried chicken and grilled cheese with tomato soup. I ordered a new item on their menu described as a half of organic roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and spinach. I was shocked when I opened the delivery from Dining in to find a tiny wing drum stick attached to a small boned chicken breast atop a pound of potatoes with a few GREEN BEANS. What happened to my spinach? I called the Dining in delivery service to explain the difference in the menu description and what I had received at a cost of $19.00. We are very good customers and they credited our account for the cost of the meal and said they would contact Jones with my concern and suggest they change their menu description. About twenty minutes later they called me back to say that Jones was sticking with their description and that is what they consider a half of organic chicken – this thing was not even the size of a Poussin. Doesn’t a half a chicken have a leg and thigh – are their chicken grown without limbs? Thank you Dining in for quality customer service and shame on you Jones for ripping off customers. Apparently, you are not hurting too badly in these economic times if you can afford to loose a few- you are out of the Blackberry and your Dining in page along with Mr. Starr’s other restaurants have been removed. You have seen the end of our hard earned money. In a restaurant city like Philly – there are so many other better options.

Mac & Cheese
It is the best mac & cheese out there.

retro comfort food
Not kid friendly, no kiddies menu. Fried chicken a little salty. Portions large. I liked the brisket sandwich the best. No refills on the iced tea - you're charged. Decent but not great.

Best Brunch in Town!
Since moving here 9 months ago Jones has become a favorite for Sat./Sun. Brunch after sampling many other places. Try the Decadent Hot Chocolate, Monkey Bread and French Toast! Out of this world and consisitent with every visit. The atmosphere is great, especially near fireplace in colder months, or upstairs where our children like to sit. Service is admittedly hit or miss, but doesn't stop us from visiting at least 2-3 times a month. It's pricey! It can be deceiving because it doesn't appear to be too pricey on the menu, but adds up quickly. I'm always a little shocked, but keep coming back. My husband loves their "Proud Mary" and he is a bloody mary "snob". Prefer brunch over lunch or dinner, but if going for dinner then the Market Salad is a must, enough to feed 3-4, or 2 VERY hungry people. The Mac -n- Cheese is to die for!

eh...
Better off going to the Midtown diner a few blocks away. Better food and reasonable prices. I'm willing to pay for quality ingredients, inventive preparation or even retro chic appeal (clearly what this place is going for), but this is just pretentious food. Oh and the ambience is cheesy at best. Bottom line so so food for much too much money.

Disappointment
I had dinner at Jones last night.. What a huge dissapointment. The service was poor from the start. The waitress said "I can't get your drinks (two beers) until we serve the really big party that just came in" The back-up waiter decided to try and clear our appetizer from the table while we were only half way done without asking. The waitress had to be reminded twice to bring some bread to the table. The only thing she did quickly was bring us a check, since she thougt she had earned a tip. I generously left her 12%, when she deserved half of that at best. The two entress ,shrimp gumbo tasted like it had been poured out of a can. No flavor and the portion was not as described, meaning too small. The 2nd entree, brisket was actually pot roast sliced up and labled incorrectly as brisket. How anyone could rate this place in a positive fashion is beyond me. This was a once and done visit.
