    Shrimp Quesadillas

The shrimp quesadillas the best I've ever had in Philly. For authentic Mexican food, Jose's is the place to go.

I'm so happy I tried this place.

I am a lover of mexican cuisine who recently moved to Philly from NY. When I asked people in Philly about mexican food, most could not tell me where I could get some really good mexican take out. I mean do Philadelphians not love mexican food? Having lived in Texas, I have sampled some of the most amazing mexican food and this place is up there with the best of them. The food is not too salty but seasoned to perfection. The prices are extremely reasonable, if not cheap compared to other places in other cities. This is not your overly decorated mexican fiesta style restaurant, rather this is more like a down home cooking mom and pop place where the food is great and cooked with love. If you love mexican food please try this place.

This was seriously everything I needed tonight. The food was phenomenal, the service was incredible. This was the best burrito I have had in as long as I can remember. Thank you, Thank you!

    Finally!

I love Mexican food but struggled finding a great place to go to/order from that wasn't overpriced or overzealous with their menu the past 5 years I've lived in Philly. Jose's is good at EVERYTHING I've tried since going there -- quesadillas, crunchy or soft tacos, enchiladas, gorditas; everything tastes fresh and incredible even when delivered. Definite gem, and super authentic. Great service too! Recommend to anybody.

don't judge a book by its cover

Absolutely delicious food! If you are looking for a "hole in the wall" with authentic Mexican food that tastes great then this is it. Driving to the place would worry most because the area is definitely not upscale. The restaurant is a plain, rectangular corner building with a small sign over the door. The employees are very personable unlike most Mexican restaurants the employees spoke and understood English very well, which actually gave me a wrong first impression thinking if they speak English this well, they can't make good Mexican food. That impression was as wrong as it was prejudiced. They have a vast menu. Tacos with every filling you could imagine except ground beef, which disappointed my wife only up until she took the first taste of her Chorizo. She found the Chorizo to be perfect. The restaurant is only slightly bigger than the space needed for the kitchen so the "dine in" area is nearly inside the kitchen. You could watch them make your meal from the table and my wife noticed everything was prepared fresh as needed. The wait time from ordering to food on the table was acceptable. I could be wrong but I think the owners live in an apartment right off the corner of the restaurant because as we waited I witnessed a woman come out, make something to eat then brought it back into the apartment. I am under the impression this is what a restaurant in Mexico would be like. There was no fancy decor, no Mexican blankets, no Mariachi singers, no morracas or any of that stuff you see in a commercialized place. I received excellent food at a decent price with good service. I would definitely go back again. Don't be turned off by location or lack of the commercialized look. If you are in the mood for great Mexican food don't miss this place. Just remember to bring cash!

    Amazing Mexican hands!

I'm so glad I finally found this place. The truth is that the chefs really honor where they are coming from! I'm vegetarian and in general there are no many choices in Mexican restaurants but here, there's more than one thing I can eat and it is really well made. Gorditas, burritos, tacos, huaraches... so good!

Quite possibly the best out there. The first time I had the veggie burrito, it made Love to my mouth.
