The food at Kanella is always amazing. The worst part of going there is how hard it is too decide what to order when we go as the whole menu is tempting. My friend Sarah and I have been going here for years and wanted to go one more time before they shut this BYOB Spruce Street location in my former neighborhood to make way for the new shop. We had the dip sampler (which had an amazing pistachio, mint and feta spread that was so fresh and light) and then shared a braised rabbit with pappardelle pasta dish with mustard that was unbelievable. I have never had rabbit before but glad at Sarah's suggestion to get it. The broth was made of the jus from the braising and mustard seeds and it was really perfect. We also got the roasted chicken special with orzo spinach and tomatoes that it was suggested we eat with our hands. We had the salted caramel dessert that was so rich with ice cream. Highly recommend and cannot wait to go to the new spot!

Was here about 4.5 years ago for brunch. It was amazing. Just went for dinner, still great. Very good, very fresh. I could really tell the chef paid close attention to each dish. The meats were fresh and tasted great. The BYOB thing seems to a big hit with my girlfriend as she says it saves money and she likes choosing her wine (I don't drink, their lemonade is great btw). Reservations are more-or-less required as its small and popular. Give it a shot!

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this place. They're full almost every night. Very fresh ingredients. The owner, Konstantinos, walks to the Itailian market to buy fresh ingredients every day and you can taste it in his cooking. When I first saw the menu, I was a bit intimidated because I had never heard of most of the stuff on there. Thats the best part about going here is trying all of the fresh new flavors that you never knew existed (never really had REAL Greek food before). It's a BYOB and the staff are exceptionally friendly, they will let you sit there and finish your wine after your meal if you like. Even if they are closing, there is no pressure whatsoever for you to leave. The owner and staff will actually conversate with you as if they've known you for years. I feel like the prices have gone up in the past year since my first time going there, but he is always featured on the Food Network as well as the news and newspapers so I suppose he's earned it. Highly recommend this place if you want to try something fresh and different.

My brother and I went here for brunch one day. The Cypress breakfest was great! Fresh, authentic, and tasty! Everything that was fried was dome so in olive oil, giving it a fruity and Greek taste. The daily specials completed our meal! Service was attentive and warm! Great value, please try this place!

Kanella is authentic cyprus cuisine. Creative entrees. Reasonably priced. Don't pass up the desserts either. Fun place.

Not only is the food ,the atmosphere and the value great.the service is awesome. Our waiter on our first and second visit was both informative and fun. He instinctively knows when join in and when to fade. A real star. I tasted my first goat, WOW, delightful and the couscous best I have ever had.We live nearby and will return often.

Best restaurant in Philadelphia...Being there three times and every time I love it more..Chef plays with flavors and condiments in a very adventure and amazing way. This little BYOB is a Philadelphia Gem. We always paid around $80-$85 per couple, which includes two appetizers, two entrees, and dessert. If you go to Amada or Zahav, you will end up paying the same and will leave the place starving. In Kanella you will leave full and satisfy. We cannot get enough of this place. Last week, we wanted to open one of the two bottles we have of 2008 Wine of the Year, Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta, and decided there were no better place to open this bottle than Kanella. We were so right. Service is awesome, love the touch of the owner/chef always stopping by all the tables at the end of the night. Very European, once you get a table it is yours for the night. No rush, just enjoy and bring a good bottle of wine because this place is worthy.
