Not customer friendly and overpriced
I have visited this place for several times. I eat there once, but I didn't like the atmosphere. The stuff is not very friendly and the food, although good quality is VERY overpriced. There are few of the servers who at least try to smile and be nice. One is not very polite, although not rude either. I would understand such behavior if the place was extra super busy and they feel pressure. But the place is never crowded. It's just the attitude of the stuff, that makes you to not go there again.

deli-icious
Corned beef and pastrami are the mainstays of a Jewish deli and nobody in Center City does it better than Schlesingers.

Philly needs a great NYC deli. This isn't it.
The sweet and sour cabbage soup was cloyingly sweet. Cole slaw was like ACME prefab. Latkes were dark brown (old oil), and were not really griddle-friend potatoes, which should have TEXTURE. These were like mashed potatoes. Brisket was delicious. Bitter, processed horse radish. Wait staff well-intentioned but intrusive. We ended up leaving because the waitress kept bouncing into our 'space' at the table.

Dont change a good thing
The kibitz room was a wonderful Jewish style deli that really knew how that kind of food should taste. I have never had matzoh ball soup as watery as the that of Schelisengers. The turkey special was balled meat and coleslaw that had been mushed together and plopped together so that everything ran down your hands as you ate it. And btw, jewish coleslaw does not hav purple cabbage in it. They even ruined the pickle bar. NEVER cut a pickled tomato unless you want it to get soggy and also half sours need to be crisp, not old and limp. The place was also nowhere near as clean as when it was the Kibitz room. You just lost two good customers.

Beyond Disappointing
I ordered a Nova sandwich. The menu described 'a generous portion on Nova'. The sandwich had exactly one tiny thin layer of Nova, about 1 ounce. I think most people ordering a $14 Nova sandwich don't really care about the cost, I just a satisfying portion on fish. Will never go back and bash it to anyone that will listen.

Catering is awesome!
Our firm uses Schlesinger's for all their luncheons ... the food is always excellent! Love their corned beef!

Delicious
I got the "TK special" and it was out of this world. Two potato pancakes, beef brisket and gravy. Was a huge portion, and delicious. My girlfriend got a turkey reuben and liked it a lot too. Could not eat the whole thing it was so big. Free pickle bar too, which was great. I agree it is a little pricey but we thought it was worth it.
