    Can't beat it!

My girlfriend and i absolutely love this place. We frequent BYOB's and this is without a doubt the best in Philly. I feel you get high quality food at a reasonable price. mussells were awesome! Atmosphere is loud that would be my only issue if you are looking for a quiet romantic night.

    loved everything

Went there this sunday the 13th of July which was my 2nd time there and loved it more than the first. (which I thought would be hard to do since that's the reason we went back again. The first time was unbelievable ) Had the mussels ...the best in the city and I've had them in most of the city restaurants ... can't be beat! Antipasta was delicious, almost didn't want to share it with my date. Then the special Sea Bass was just that "SPECIAL" yum. Than came the cannoli with espresso All that for just $71 plus tip. Would have paid much more at that other Italian restaurant and it wouldn't have been as good or as friendly. That's the other plus, just love Joe. My evening at La Locanda was a night to remember. Thanks guys!!!!!!

    Keep Coming Back

We discovered this hidden B.Y.O.B. treasure two years ago and we keep going back. The atmosphere is quaint and personal. The mussels are the best in the city. No other Italian restaurant can come close to these mussels. The lamb is tender and succulent as is the veal. The service is fantastic and informal. Giuseppe and Joe run a five star restaraunt in old city that many people do not know of yet. Reservations are a must. The best Italian restaurant out there today.

    Amazing

I adore this resturant, we look for any reason to go. I'm addicted to their Mushroom Crepe, literally melts in your mouth. I'm not a fan of sausage, but they had a sausage pasta dish that knocked me off my feet. The waiters are really friendly, quick ot check on you. If you havn't been here, then your really missing out. The only thing is their cash only so don't forget to tap Mac on your way there.

    Anonymous is an idiot

This place is an amazing BYOB. The ambience is great, the service is great. I usually go there with a group of people (although it is a great date place as well.) You order all the appetizers (make sure you order two mushroom crepes - best thing they make), then a main course (the menu is good, but there are usually like 8 specials, so get one of those - although hard to finish - the appetizers alone are pretty filling), then go with dessert (tiramisu is their specialty and is to die for - but you can also order all the deserts if you have a big table of gluttons.) Most people already should know this, but don't go to an Italian restaurant and order the Shark special. And don't order that and then judge the restaurant on that alone. At the end of the night the bill, after tax and tip, is always around $40/person. Add a $10 bottle of wine and you have an amazing evening for 50 bucks! Well worth it. To sum it up, like their motto, it's "great Italian food with American portions."

    Mediocre at best.....

Visited 6.23.07. Pasta was bland at best. Shark special was nothing special. It was an okay meal with nice service. But I wouldn't go back.
