Great Little Italian Restaurant!
Based on a friend's recommendation we took my daughter and her 11 friends to La Viola last night (a week night) for her birthday dinner. The hostess was very gracious and sat us even though our entire party was not there yet. The waiters were attentive, accomodated our special needs food wise and constantly filled our water glasses! They even made a dish that was not on the menu for the birthday girl. They did not rush us out but served our meals efficiently. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a low key place to have dinner be it business or pleasure. The restaurant is small and seats were tight but the service and quality of food made up for it. The price was an excellent value as well, it is BYOB and cash only so keep that in mind before heading out. It is a little hard to find but look for the address on a small sign outside the restaurant. A real pleasure - food was delicious and I can't wait to eat there again.

a philadelphia landmark!
i've been here numerous times, on numerous occasions, or no occasion at all, and it is consistently a wonderful experience! the owner is the sweetest man, never have i heard anyone else describe the specials with such excitement! go with a friend, or a few, or a bunch...and enjoy! p.s. best caesar salad in the city. the mushroom appetizer is another crowd pleaser...no matter what, you can't go wrong!

Great Little Place
The food is fresh and good especially the homemade pasta. Service is outstanding and it is very reasonablly priced. I 've eaten there a dozen times and never been disappointed. There are two locations on the same street and seating is close so you are at the mercy of the people near you. But that 's anywhere. This is a great local place that is doing well.

Boo. Two thumbs down.
If your idea of a great night is waiting over an hour with a reservation, then eating thisclose to a bunch of frat guys who brought a 24 pack of Coors and a box of Franzia to dinner, then definitely come here. The hostess was rude, dismissive, and unapologetic about the fact that our 9pm reservation yielded a 10 pm seating. "is the entire party here?" she snarked before seating us. Bus boys hurry to throw some bread and olive oil on your table, but the waiters who can actually take your order are few and far between. Even our charming waiter couldn't take the stink off our evening, sadly. The highlight of our dinner was watching some drunk chick from a party of 25 stumble into the main dining room with a half-full bottle of Absolut. "Ta-da!" she said to the waiter, "this is part of your tip." There are other BYOB places in Philly, do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Great place for a weeknight meal
Great BYO. Prices are very reasonable and food is great. Definitely need to make a reservation as the place is very small. I went on a weeknight at 7 and the atmosphere was very nice. The place does fill up and can get noisy, but that’s what you expect from a tiny Italian restaurant. Would recommend.

Can't recommend this place enough!
This restaurant is just like the other across the street but you have room to move your arms during dinner. The food and service is just as delicious and the price is just right. This is my favorite restaurant without a doubt and is always my first choice and recommendation to friends and family. I never feel rushed and the service is wonderful. Being that it's byob just makes this fantastic find even better!! The veal rollatini is my favorite dish and it's so hard to get something else because it's the best veal I've ever had. Anyone who goes here is in for a real treat, and if you don't like it, then you need to get your taste buds checked.
