    Very Nice Place

    Really nice atmosphere! Waited a long time after being seated, and was never asked if any of us wanted a drink. After asking for a beverage we received them quickly. Took a while for order to be taken and when we asked questions about the very different menu the answers were short and vague. Started with Scrippllee M'Busse and we all enjoyed it. Had the appetizer Gamberini E Ceci (shrimp over chick pea puree) the puree was unexpectedly very good. Main course we had Taccozzelle All'Aquilana which had strong mushroom taste but was good, the seafood stew was also tasty. The Porchetta was a nice portion, the broccoli rabe tender, and we had the Pollo Alla Casalinga which was cooked to perfection but a very, very strong rosemary flavor that slightly over powered the meal. Half way through the meal we all were dry on our drinks, at $9 a glass you would think they would be more attentive, I tracked down the waiter and he brought just me a glass of wine and ignored all the other empty glasses. Waiter and assistant were very nice but just not engaged. Our desserts were nice and the coffee excellent but had to chase down server twice for one refill in a very small cup. Meals was $60 a person and with some real service probably more. They could have easily sold another eight glasses of wine. The place was nice but at the price and not so great service I think we will look elsewhere next time.

    The restaurant's web page and great review from a co-worker had me eagerly anticipating this dinner. However, the restaurant did not live up to the hype. Beautiful setting though. We ordered two different bruschetta appetizers, hoping the five of us would have someting to knosh on. The first was 4 small toasted pieces of bread with ground salami on top. The second had 4 toasted pieces of bread, 3 marinated carrots, and a jar of ground salami. It was much too spicy for my taste, and at $11 each, the portions were meager. For dinner, I ordered the seafood stew. The calamari, mussels, shrimp, and fish in tomato broth served with the same toasted bread as the appetizer was ok, but extremely salty. I feel like I had more carbs and salt in this place than I normally eat in a week. My friend ordered the fetuccine in pesto, and she said that it was almost cold. Desserts were nothing special--fried ricotta balls were tasteless and greasy, cookies were mediocre. Coffee is delicious, but served in very small cups, and you have to request refills. You also have to request fill ups on the water. I think I will stay on this side of the river for a while where parking is ample and free. There are much better Italian restaurants in Collingswood, Haddonfield, and Washington Twp. I wish I could be more positive.

    Chef Joe Cicala is the Best!

    Had dinner their last night with several friends and the food, service and chef Joe are wonderful! A great dining experience and would eat at Le Virtu every night if I lived in Philadelphia. Don't miss this place it is unbelievable.

    My wifes birthaday

    We arrived excited and confident that we had chosen the right restaurant. However, once the bread took 20minutes and came after our appetizers and our server was struggling (with two tables) we knew we were in for a rough ride. The food is good however, it was lacking the basics, salt and pepper the polenta and house made sausage would have been good if the polenta had been salted correctly. The fried olives were bland and still had a chill on the inside of them. The riddicco salad was good as well as our dinners. The service was poor, and I probably would have been very upset if it had not been for Nick the busier taking over and serving my wife and me. He did a great job and really saved the evening he should be promoted to full time sever immediately.

    Amazing experience

    My twin brother and I went to Le Virtu for a belated birthday celebration. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. Our server took the time to answer our questions and also made recommendations based on our likes/disklikes. We both had salads and an entree but we were not rushed, which I enjoy. (Many times, the entree arrives prior to finishing the appetizer, salad). My only suggestion is that the chef add a few less "heavy" dessert choices such as fresh fruit or berries. I plan to return again. PS. The chef was there when we were exiting the restaurant and took the time to greet and speak with us - a very nice touch!

    This beautiful small restaurant made my heart sing! My only wish was that they had a drink menu along with the wine menu. They have a lovely well stocked bar. The service was warm but not obtrusive. We felt very well cared for. So happy I ordered too much and have leftovers for lunch today! YUM!! Pricey and will have to wait a bit before I go again..but I will be back!

    poorest italian i've ever had

    I have wanted to go to this restaurant since it opened. I finally went during the summer. I am Italian, borned and raised in South Phila. Going out for dinner is one of my favorite pastimes. I do not know what part of Italy they are getting their recipes from or wonder if the cook is really Italian. Most of the clientele did not look like they were from the city. They wouldn't know good Italian food if it hit them in the face. God forbid. Never again. Also, very expensive. I was with 3 people and it was about $50 a piece. Worse $50 I ever spent.
