I've been a Lemon Grass customer for four years now and their Thai food is, bar none, the best in University City. The lunch fix price menu is an amazing bargain for $8.95: appetizer, soup, and entree. The portions are filling and their menu offers a wide variety for both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. The restaurant is beautiful and clean and the waitstaff is always fast and friendly. I can't say enough about this wonderful little place. The price is right and the food is outstanding and consistent, two things that are hard to find in West Philadelphia. In four years, I have never had anything that didn't satisfy me at Lemon Grass.

In the past decade I visited Thailand five times and can speak a little Thai, and absolutely love Thai food! Philadelphia has a number of fair to good Thai restaurants, I've tried about 10 of them, but I think Lemongrass is the best. The flavors are just a little more authentic and the ingrediants seem fresher here. Near Drexel U. in University City, this place gets crowded on weekends! I stay away from gimmicky dishes like "Evil Jungle Princess" and stick to the classic Thai favorites like Tom Yum Goong (shrimp and lemongrass soup) Tom Kha Gai (a Chicken, coconut, and galangal soup), Pad Thai, and Penang Beef Curry. The food has been consistantly tasty (Arroy na kup!) and the service is friendly and fast.

Excellent lunch specials (8.95 for app, entree, and dessert), good flavor - a bit extreme when you ask for "spicy" - and pretty good service. Sometimes a bit late when getting you the check, but overall a good thai stop.
