    One of my favorites!

I ate here with two other friends, and we shared all the small plates. We did have to wait, but we barely had time to drink a beer down the street at Fergie's when we were called back for our table. The host that night was great, but it was a man whereas I saw a poor review for a hostess on here. I want to go back more, but they are only open for dinner on the weekends when I'm usually in the area. I'm fairly new to the Philadelphia area and have tried lots of places, but this is definitely a favorite. I have been disappointed by the food and prices in many places, but this food was delicious and well worth the money spent. Advice: skip the flash of El Vez across the street and wait for a table at Lolita.

    unfriendly hostess!!

I went to Lolita on Friday 2/13/09. I have eaten there several times before and always have thought the food was excellent. We got there at around 8 and were told there was a 40 minute wait. The hostess took our cell phone number, and we went to the bar next door to grab a drink. We had barely started our drinks, when she called and said our table was ready. We were a party of 5, but only 4 of us had arrived. The hostess said she could only seat complete tables. While we were waiting for our 5th member to arrive, another party showed up and she gave them our table. They were a party of 6, but only 2 of them had arrived and she seated them anyway. Our 5th person finally arrived, and the hostess told us we would have to wait for another table to clear out. When we complained that she had given away our table unfairly, she demanded we leave the restaurant. She refused to seat us b/c of the "lack of respect" we had shown her. What happened to "the customer is always right"?!

    cash only

Went to this place for the first time on Saturday. I had the duck and my boyfriend had the short rib. The food was great but I don't know that I would say it was worth the wait. To give them a little slack, it was pretty hectic in the city Saturday night. The streets were filled with people after some celebration. So the restaurant was packed! Literally packed. The hostess took our cell number and told us it would be 40 min. It ended up being more like 25-30. Once we were seated it took another 30 minutes to get chips and salsa (which were the best I have ever tasted). But it's gonna cost you if you want more ($5). In all we were there for about an hour and a half. Oh and here's the best part. It's all cash only! At the bottom of the menu smaller than the fine print is a short sentence that lets you know how cheap they are. I understand rent is expensive in the city but to charge $10 for the margarita mix, at least $20 per meal and $5 for the best chips and salsa in the city AND only except cash is simply ridiculous. It's your call. Good food though. Can't knock 'em there.

    delish

O.k. I was there tonight and I had to write a review. Louis was as always wonderful-if only he liked girls.....hmmmmmm...... Getting back to the point, the app of pork tacos was soooo good, I can't but always get them. The 2 dinners we shared were equally great. The ribs were dancing in my mouth. The mix of crunch and richness was right on. The duck-a bit on the sweet side, but was counterbalanced with the sour of the orange and the crisp of the jicima it was a 2 thumbs up. I eat at so many restaurants and I am always disappointed, between bad service and crappy food, why do I bother??? I guess I can't go there 2 times a week. This one is still a gem in my eyes. I can't figure out why I don't eat at Lolita more often, GREAT service and Great food...why do I even try others??? Louis-he's also a keeper!!!

    Rude host!

On a Tuesday night with a half empty restaurant, our party was rushed out after less than 2 hours. The staff placed extra table settings/silverware at the two-top next to us and loudly announced over our table to our waitress that our table would be a ten-top during our meal. We felt that we were being rushed out. We were finishing our pitcher (by filling our glasses one last time), when the host came over, immediately took the pitcher from our table, and told us that the next reservation was here and we needed to leave. There was an open 6 top directly behind us and several other open tables. We were kind, respectful, polite, but they were rude.

    Formidable!

Best mexican food i've ever had so far. The BYOT is an excellent idea, and the fact that the waiter grab the bottle and pour it in the margarita drink right in front of you is cool. The place is a bit small though and noisy with peoples conversations. Overall, I would definately refer someone there or go back myself.

    Awesome

Just ate here for the first time and it was awesome! All of the food was great, we had the steak, pork chop and waluu and everyone cleaned their plates. The food was a bit spicy, so if you don't like that ask them to tone it down a bit. Service was great, but very busy on weekends so its hard to get a table -- they don't take weekend reservations. The margaritas were great-- we had the strawberry and the watermelon. But the best part was definitely dessert. One of the best selections around. We tried the bread pudding, the choc cake, the tiramisu and the cheese cake--- all of them were absolutely delicious and had a different twist.
