Tonight was first time ordering from Luigi's.We were in the mood to stay home and have cheesesteaks delivered. Our first choice of the local cheesesteak cafes doesn't deliver, our second choice does deliver, but was closed on Sunday, so we went with Luigi's, a newcomer to the area. The phone was answered promptly by a pleasant man with a heavy Italian accent. He had good command of the English language, but a few words were hard to understand over the phone due to the thick accent, but this was not a problem. One thing I found annoying was the way he said, "Is that all?" after each and every item, sometimes blurting it out before I had even finished speaking. In a way it gave me the feeling that he didn't want me to order anything else, as if I had ordered enough already! We ordered a cheesesteak with extra cheese, sauteed onions and ketchup, a cheesesteak with extra cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onions, a meatball parmesan sandwich and a side order of fried, breaded mushrooms. They forgot to add the ketchup to the first cheesesteak, but other than that, everything was present and accounted for. I received a phone call from the delivery driver to verify my address before he knocked on the door. He was extremely friendly and sweet, explaining that the order taker had combined two similar street names from the local area, so he wanted to make sure he was going to knock on the correct door. To be clear, we live on Green Lynne Drive, the next street over is Green Lane, the order taker wrote the address as Green Lane Drive, causing confusion for the driver. The total order came to $27.00. I handed over $32.00 and as I said, "We're all set" the delivery guy asked, "Would you like change?" Of course I didn't want change, but I do appreciate the fact that he asked, so many do NOT ask and that is a pet peeve of mine. The driver thanked me, twice, and went on his way. Now on to the food: The cheesesteaks were exactly what we wanted! The onions were nicely sauteed, NOT quickly grilled with burnt, acrid edges, as were the mushrooms. The onions were cut in a very rough chop, varying sizes, a couple were just too large, some were so small that you'd need a magnifying glass to see they were in there. The steak was roughly chopped, but very tender, seasoned well, and had quite a bit of good, beefy flavor. The breaded mushrooms were just okay, the meatball parm was good, beef meatballs, but the cheese was a bit dried out and not melted thoroughly.

We got a menu in our mailbox. After being disappointed with our usual take out places, we decided to try these guys. I think we'll be ordering a lot more from them. Pizza crust was thin and crispy like I love and they have the best wings we've had in over a decade. Do yourself a favor and try them. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Delivery was also fast and the drivers are very polite. They will be getting a lot more business from us!
