Hidden Gem
This place was a very hard place to find for my first time. I actually have been on south street many times for water ice from the Ritas and ice cream for the Haagendazs and each time I had probably walked right by the restaurant! I didnt find out about this place until a friend of mine had taken me there, and I was actually unsure at first. I am not a crazed sushi fan or someone who has never tried Japanese food before. But I have to say I very much enjoyed the rolls on the chefs special board. The chef had recommended the Maki House Special being my first time there and I was surprised at how great it was. Full of a variety of seafood which I tend to always go for. On top of that I really liked the how everything was cooked inside since the whole roll comes out really crunchy being completely fried. This place is small and hidden between two dessert places, but I have been coming back to this place each time on the weekends when in the mood of some sushi trying their many sushi combos. Each time I come back I find the sushi brings me back to something familiar, the value of the food Id say is the best part of this place! Great food and good price!

Small place but great food!
Its funny how this restaurant is tucked near the end of south street on 2nd. I swear I would just past by it easily if my friends didn't introduce me here. It's a small casual place, their sushi and food is straightforward, clean presentation, simple and tastes delicious. It's a good hangout spot without breaking your wallet. They definitely have some interesting flavors like their Maki House Special/ Scorpion Roll, etc Most of all, they do the classic rolls and the different combos well. I especially like their salad dressing. Value wise this place definitely gives me enough pieces. Staff and owner are nice and attentive. Also, BYOB, we brought a bottle of red wine and they served it for us while we watched football on their High Def (nice).

Not authentic, fresh or good.
I ordered salmon, hamachi and ikula sushi bad sushi rice. None of them were fresh like they said on other reviews then I'm very picky when it comes to sushi I'm from Tokyo . Miso soup... packages does better job. No dashi taste, poor and cheap miso. and ... Onigiri. I ordered this because I'm Japanese and I love my picnic food. I don't care if you are Chinese or Korean operating Japanese food as long as you get it right somehow... but news flash, you don't make them with sushi rice! Especially when you are being cheap and using rice flakes!(n and they aren't even good ones) They were not good. If you don't know what they really are, you think it's the waste of money. If you claim to own Japanese restaurant, at least know our food!!
