Disappointing
I'd like to say good words, but it's so difficult. The menu offers a great promise only to be crushed by the poor execution. Everything comes from a can! If you like bland tasteless crap, please go to MG. A salad costing $10 with virtually zero dressing and a few microscopic tuna flakes from a can should at least come with bread, but no-you pay for it, even if it's stale...Service is not even worth discussing. I see it's always packed, despite the food. People in America must like bland food, that's the only explanation why MG is still in business.

Not all of the Marathons are bad....
Whether I at home or at work there is a Marathon located within a few blocks. I will preface by stating that I LOVE the Marathon on the Square! The employees are some of the best service employees around, they are friendly, professional and you never need to ask for a refill. The food is excellent, even the take out. Unfortunately I cannot state the same about their sister Marathons 11th and Walnut and 13th and Chestnut. Take out is an unpleasant experience, from the phone call to order to picking it up. Watch out when you pick it up.....your salad may only have a tiny piece of chicken or tuna (especially the nicoise, honestly, barely any tuna in that 11.18 salad!) Look at the food before you leave the restaurant.

This place is the worst!!!!!!!!!!
I went there for the first time about 2 weeks ago for luch with a lady friend of mine and had a poor experience. Just all the basic stuff went wrong. First off if your a server and you take an order down in your head because you dont like a pen and pad you better hope is right if you think your gonna get tipped! Of course in my case there was no pen an pad.... low and behold she got the order wrong. My salad came out at the same time as my burger which only took about an hour and the womens milkshake took about a half hour and that came out wrong also. My "well done" burger was still bleeding and I ask if the chicken in the ceasar salad would be hot.... was told yes.... and it came out cold. Starving and in an already bad mood I went to attempt to eat and there were no utensils! We sat there for about 10 mins to see if our server would notice but of course she didnt. I got up and asked the manager if they if he could provide them for us. He was embarassed. Furthermore my drink sat empty for about 45 min until the server came back and the proceeded to ask if we were ok. I gave her the blankest stare almost telling her she was an idiot without using any words. I actually had to stop her from walking away to say "hey can i get another ice tea?!" To cap it all of it to another half hour for the check...That was almost the first time i ever walked out on a check. I was seriously mad at myself for tipping the girl 5 bucks because she didnt deserve a dollar. Its a shame beause i frequent many places all over the city and I am a great tipper being in the business myself. The only positive thing that i can say about this place is that the door works both ways and I was able to get out of there! The manager of this place should be fired along with the entire staff if they hope to stay open. Do yourself a favor an choose micky d's instead and save your money!

Ehh...
I am just writing to say I agree with everything on this page. There's no need for me to say again what's been spoken. I personally blame the ownership. Not stable if you know what I mean.

I don't usually get angry but
Drinks took 25 min to come out. Dinner took 70 min to come out. Coffee took 15 min to come out so of course we cancelled desert. Waiter forgot drink orders. Salmon was average. Hamburger was supposed to have carmelized onions but that was too much for them, and it couldn't be sent back because the person who ordered it was hypoglycemic and had to eat SOMETHING as there was no bread or anything before the 70 min meal came. Nearby parking cost $25. Very embarrassing as 3 guests were visiting Philadelphia from Arizona. Eat at your own risk - you were warned.

decent lunch or breakfast spot
food is inconsistent. best bet is the salmon burger with spinach and cheese and a couple of the mexican breakfast items. best to order the bottled iced tea because the fresh iced tea is very ordinary. salads are disappointing.

Can't get the orders right.
I am writing regarding this restaurant located at 16th and Sansom. My company has been ordering lunch every Friday, since September 2007, which was faxed in around 10:30 a.m. (until their fax machine stopped working). A fax document was d, so that the orders were typed to eliminate confusion, however, there were plenty of times that the salad dressings were missing or were put on the salads, when I request (usually in bold letters) that all salad dressings must be "on the side". We also have Vegans, but one order had the chicken in the salad, instead of being on the side. Another sandwich was ordered without the turkey, only to contain bacon that was not listed as an ingredient on the menu. One time a hamburger order was missed, along with sautéed spinach from another order. During the last couple of months, the fax machine has not been working, so I called in the orders. I kind of dread this with the mistakes on the other orders that were faxed in, and again, there were mistakes. One order had six items, two consisting only of a soup and a chili order. Three were off the regular menu, with the remaining item being one of the platter specials. I requested an 11:45 a.m. to 12 noon delivery as usual. At 12:05 p.m., I called and was told that the order was going out the door. This company is located a block away. The order did not arrive until 12:30 p.m., while I was on hold with the restaurant checking on the status. And, there were only two salad dressings ordered, but both were missing. I don't know what else to do to get these orders delivered correctly, and I have walked the order down the block just to avoid mistakes by the order takers, but this time, with the rain, I called in an order. The salmon bagel platter was missing the BAGEL. The Red Bliss side order became a Tuna-Bean Pasta side. Hot items were cold, cold items were warm. So, this is the last time our company will be ordering from this restaurant. By the way, they have a customer service email site to contact them for complaints, etc., but my email was returned with an error message.
