    most disappointing wings ever

great burgers, great mussels. unpredictable service. good prices. disappointing chicken wings - undercooked and mushy skin with uninspiring sauce

    over rated

good Belgian beer [select]ion and mussels. the rest of the menu is nothing special and over priced. the service sucks too. if you want a larger beer [select]ion, great food and friendly, knowledgable service, try Eulogy instead.

    On a downward spiral

Ten years ago, the food was excellent there. Nowadays it is quite mediocre. If you have ever eaten real frites in Belgium like me, you will be majorly disappointed with Monk's frites - thin, oily and lukewarm. The waitstaff behave as if they have better things to do - the last time I went in there, they sat me at a table covered with crumbs and spilled water. The chicken cooked with beer tasted all right, but everything else was not.

    Disappointment!

After hearing all the hype about Monk's food and beer, we finally decided to give it a try. We were told the wait would be 30/40 minutes and finally got a table a hour and a half later. The restaurant has no atmosphere and is extremely small which makes waiting even more annoying. We thought at least the food would be worth it....wrong. Worst bar food I have eaten in Center City. The beer was nothing special either. I suggest going to other pubs in the area. I will not go back to Monk's.

You have to go at the right time

If you go at an off time you will have no trouble finding a seat at the bar or a table. The food is delicious, especially the fries, and the wait staff and bartenders will be happy to help you find a beer you will enjoy. It's not trying to be trendy, if you want trendy go elsewhere.

    Great fries!

The food is pretty typical bar food (though I really like the fries). The waitresses are very friendly and prices are reasonable. It is much more comfortable to sit in the front rooms than the back bar area.

If you really have no other choices

The place is mediocre at best. It so wants to be a hip trendy spot that it goes overboard. The value is awful. Price for product is forgotten here. Go somewhere else, there are plenty of choices in the area.
