Finally, A Decent Diner
I've been looking, since I arrived in Philadelphia, for a diner that was the real deal. All up to this point have disappointed me. Either the staff was rude or the food was below greasy-spoon standards. I knew I'd found the real deal when the waitress who took care of my girlfriend and myself addressed as both as "Hon". She was fast with the service, the food was pretty good (and a fairly reasonable portion-per-buck ratio) and though it isn't on the Interstate, It did have counter seating with swivel chairs.

The Best Cheesesteak
Mrs. K's Cheesesteak sandwich is the best in Philly. I was a visitor on business for the first time. I was staying two blocks from Mrs. K's. I was there for breakfast and the server told me they had the best cheesesteak sandwich in town. Of course I did not believe them. So I tried some of the big places in South Philly. I was not impressed. Then I went back to Mrs. K's. I could not believe the difference. It is shredded beef, not those flat slabs of meat that are tough and fatty. Mrs. K's sandwich is moist and I did not have the Cheez Whiz. I had sliced cheese, melted of course, and it was absolutely fabulous. It has been 3 years since I have been there and I still crave one of those sandwiches. Mrs. K's is a great American diner. The waitresses make you feel at home and all the food is tasty diner food. I love the horseshoe counters and the local color that occupies them. Thank you Mrs. K's. I hope you will still be there when I get back to Philly.

Great Breakfast
Mrs K's has the best breakfast value in Olde City. Near the Custom House, so if you are caught up in the passport rush, give Mrs. K's a try. Be sure to ask for Rita (she treats everyone like family) for a dining real experience.

Waitresses like your Mom
My waitress, Rita, says to me "drink your coffee, don't just look at it" and she seems heart broken when I can't manage to eat every bite of the #3 breakfast special. Mrs. K's is the perfect little diner. You can still get lunch for under 5$ and you can get plenty of conversation for free.

The best Philly Cheesesteaks
Mrs. K's makes the best philly cheesesteaks in Philadelphia. Her place is a luncheonette with two horseshoe shaped counters with stools. There are no booths or tables with chairs. It's very simple but the food and service is superb! They even remembered me when I had only been there on on an annual trip for several years.
