Eating out at Ms. Tootsie's is more than just going out to dinner, it's "brotherly love" on a plate. The dining room is cozy yet chic, the staff are welcoming and attentive, and the food is absolutely delicious. My catfish was fried just right, and I could probably eat that mac and cheese once a week! Don't forget about dessert, the sweet potato cheesecake just melted in my mouth! 5 stars for Keven Parker and this gem of a restaurant.

You do not have to be African American or from the south to prepare soul food. I engage in all types of cooking, East Indian, Italian, Chinese etc. and I am none of the above. The individual that wanted more cornbread needs to read the lastest health issues concerning our nation: over indulging in fatty, sugary, salty foods makes you fat and cause other diseases. Remember-moderation.

it has been awhile since I've dined at Ms.Tootsies due to the simple fact that the food was poor. I have read the reviews and I see that the food has not changed at all .

well I personally don't think the food could be called soul food..That's not real down home soul cooking...How you gonna have a puerto rican cooking soul food...that makes no sense...I heard the smothered turkey chops was really good, so that's what I ordered..however they were fried hard with gravy poured on top..The macaroni tasted like it came from the box, the potatoes in my potato salad was not done, the greens were not even cut, they were very big leaves, so you would need a real big mouth to eat them..Now the icetea was excellent, I think I got full off of the icetea...the cornbread was good too, but they could of gave me more than 1 piece...I pretty much wasted my money, I took all my food home, and not even my kids wanted to eat it...but they did the the lollipops..Oh now my sister ordered catfish and that was pretty tasty...I don't think I will want to go back to that restaurant unless someone was picking up the tab, but if I have to pay out of my own pocket, aint nothing up..

Hands down the ice tea is fabulous. The service and the atmosphere were great. The tootsie pops, the cute carry bags and the mega ice tea bottles were nice because these personal touches made the place memorable. However for the prices of the entree they could have offer more the one piece of cornbread but it . I ordered the fried catfish and was disappointed because the fish had no flavor. The mac n cheese tasted like velveeta cheese instead of hard cheese. The yams were way too sweet. Overall the food good but I am not in a rush to go back.
