Ms. Tootsie surpassed my expectations from the hostess who was truly beautiful to our waitress Rhona who went way beyond our expectations. She was the epitome of professionalism. I highly recommend Ms. Tootsie for its eclectic atmosphere to the comfortable seating. I will be back many times to hold parties and to have intimate dinners. The food was fabulous, we made reservations and was seated right away and received our food order within 30 minutes. Thanks Rhona for making my friends and I feel at home you were a great waitress and we will request you whenever we come back

I dined at Ms Tootsies on 8/20. We arrived at 7:25pm, got seated, and ordered drinks. My iced tea arrived, but my boyfriend's martini didn't get to the table until 25 mins later. We also didn't get to order during this time as our server was on her cell phone, chatting with other servers, and more concerned with doing nothing pertaining to her job. We finally ordered 30 mins into our visit. After ONE HOUR, we were given two pieces of cornbread minus the butter. We never saw our server again to ask for butter or drink refills. We did however see her hanging out at the bar, talking to a friend, chatting on her cell phone again, doing everything except bringing us food. Finally, 1 hr and 20 mins into our visit, our server was walking by. We flagged her down and asked if she could check on our order. 10 mins later she reported back that the waffle that was ordered as part of one of the meals originally came out too dark and she was not willing to serve something she would not eat herself; she also said she didn't know which table it was for and just sent it back to be redone. [I appreciate that, but why not find out which table it's for and tell us rather than keep us waiting.] Our food arrived 1 hr and 30 mins into our visit. Our server asked if we needed anything else and we asked for some water which she never brought. I later flagged her down again to ask for the check. We were charged for 2 sides that were ordered with one of the entrees. I inquired as to why and she explained they didn't come with the meal and were separate. I then explained that on the menu, the entree was on the list where it states you get 2 sides. She responded that she never reads the menu so she has no idea what it says... really?! How do you work at a restaurant and not know what is on the menu? Obviously, I was correct and the extra $10 was removed. I did reach out to the owner of the restaurant to voice my concerns over my dining experience. He was very responsive in getting back to me and invited me to come back to make things right. One would think I would be invited back on the house, but no. I was told I would be served by the same waitress; she was there but that never happened. I informed the owner I would be there at 7pm; I gave my name when I entered and there was no table waiting for me. AND, I had to pay my own way. Trust me, if I knew I was paying for this redo, I would have said NO THANK YOU!

A few friends, my husband and I went to have a nice get together dinner. Let's just say the service was slow, the food was sub par, and the atmosphere appeared to be unfinished. There also appeared to be a private party going on above us on the third floor. We came to this conclusion due to the shaking chandeliers and loud line dance music followed by a hint of gospel. That's all I did get a hint of as there was definitely not a hint of lime in my mixed green salad with southern LIME chicken. This was followed by Mac n cheese and cabbage sides that they had the nerve to charge us for. For those folks living right outside of Philly, it's not worth the ride. Sorry Soul food fans, but I give them two snaps down.

I'll get straight to the point: 1. Some sort of "reservation mix-up" (the restaurant was at fault). 2. Hour and a half wait for our group to be seated. 3. A very nice, young waiter (he tried his best to make up for the ineptness of others). 4. Another hour wait for sub-par food and incorrect orders. 5. A very RUDE, unprofessional, and un-apologetic manager. 6. No amends for our poor treatment (Oh wait, they gave us a bag of bad desserts).

I went to this restaurant over the weekend and although the food came out in 10 minutes, we had issues with the "wait." Just be prepared.

I called Ms. Tootsie's on a Friday afternoon to inquire about making reservations for a party of 9 on the following Sunday. I was told by the very polite gentleman with whom I spoke that I did not need to make a reservation, as my party was under 10 people. GREAT! This was going to be a wonderful, first time experience for my two sisters, my son, my two nieces, my nephew, and my Mom, whose 63rd birthday we were celebrating. I had bragged and boasted to my sister for three weeks about the treasures created in Ms. Tootsie's kitchen, and assured my family that they would NEVER forget the Ms. Tootsie's experience. I was SO RIGHT. My party arrived at Ms. Tootsie's at approx. 5:45pm on Sunday, May 2nd, and we were met at the door by two male Abercrombie and Fitch models who greeted us politely and then asked me if we had made reservations. I explained that I had called about reservations and was told they were not required for a party the size of mine. One of the two A&F gentlemen explained that, they were expecting a party of 25 to arrive within the next 10 minutes, and that they were already... are you ready for this?... RUNNING LOW ON FOOD, and would be unable to accommodate any other guests, for fear that the fare would not last through the evening! After suggesting several other "very nice restaurants" to my family and me, and apologizing ever-s0-humbly again and again, the gentlemen smiled...politely... before dissapearing back into the cafe. My family and I shook off our disbelief, made our way to a soul-food buffet on Oregon Ave., and Mom's birthday celebration was a smashing success after all! Thank you, Ms. Tootsie.

I have been to Ms. Tootsies multiple times but never in the Winter. Why did I do that? Ms. Tootsies is already a small restaurant with a tight city floorplan but to have no foyer and seating right by the door in freezing weather...BIG MISTAKE! Ms. Tootsie, if you are going to do it like that, let me suggest opening the windows too so we can get the full effect of eating in the cold!
