12/20/08 was my first time going to Ms. Tootsie's Cafe. I have heard friends and co-workers rave about how good Ms. Tootsie's food was. I was soooo disappointed. The service was good. I did not like the atmosphere because it was too small and dark. Then to top if off they sat my friend and I next to the bathroom! The food came out too quick and you can tell that it was pre-cooked and warmed up. The greens were subpar the mac and cheese was unappetizing not to mention it was made it Velveeta cheese. The whiting was tasteless, but the hot sauce fixed that. The corn bread was dry and too thick. And the famous house ice tea is nothing but ice tea mix!! I can not see how they were rated one of the best places to eat in Philadelphia?!

I visited Ms. Tootsie's last night for the first time. I was very suppised to see how small the place was, unfortunately because of it we had to wait 1hr. The hostess at the door however was very pleasant and called us on the cell phone where we waited in the car. Once seated we ordered our food and was very pleased with our meal. Loved the fried chicken, mac n cheese, cabbage, collard greens and yams! The iced tea was a little too sweet but it was good. The prices were not that bad. Overall I really enjoyed my dinner and would go back again. God Bless!

Miss Tootsie's soul food is superb. As a whole it is absolutely the best I've had in the Philly-Camden area. Slightly high priced but worth the value. The service was extremely friendly and to compensate they gave us 20% off of our next meal. If you're in the South Street area it's a definite MUST stop.

People weren't lying when they said Ms Tootsie's was the best! It's so true from the service right down to the all important thing, the food. The atmosphere was terrific, and the soft R&B playing in the background sets the mood just right. The waiters and waitresses were as nice as can be. The food was extravagant. And when I say food I mean all of it from their BBQ ribs to their sweet potato pie. I would live there just to be fed their delicious Caesar salad with salmon. Five stars all the way from this critic.

The experience I had dining at tootsie's was the best black experience I had in a while in philadelphia. This authentic african american resturant reminds me of when we as african americans loved and respected each other. David's, hospitality makes you feel like your at home. My sisters and I will be coming back to tootise's to celebrate our birthday this weekend. Carol, Stay blessed
