    soul food sooooooo good

If you haven't been, you have to check this place out. No doubt, the city's best soul food. Great atmoshere, friendly service and food that will have you coming back. Smothered porkchop came with choice of sides. Went with collards and mac and cheese and was very glad I did. I'll be back soon to work my way through the menu. It's BYO, which is great. But if you want a drink or cocktail, go next to neighboring Ms. Tootsie's Restaurant Bar Lounge (RBL) while you put your name in on a busy Saturday night and enjoy the beautiful space as well.

    Definitely check it out.

I just dined at Ms. Tootsie's RBL recently and had to write. The bar is sleek, but the dining space is smart, sophisticated, stylish but still warm and inviting. The service is spot on and warm too, which I prefer. I had fried chicken, collards and mac/cheese. And I. Ate. It. All. Had the nerve to order pound cake, but the common sense to bring it home-- and have it for breakfast. Delicious. Thanks Ms. Tootsie! You should definitely check it out.

    Not good

The atmosphere of the place is nice. The food was not. We had people come from NY, Del, Wil, Long Island. The food was like where am I. We travel a distance to received food that was not homemade. The mac and cheese tast like Kraft with Veveeta. sauce. The fish taste like is flour with corn meal and I never had so many bones in my Whiting fish. Toostie 's, stick with the lounge.

    Pleasantly Surrised!

My cousins and I recently saw a play in Philly over the weekend and after the show we decided to eat at Ms. Tootsie's Cafe. We are from Maryland and did not know what to expect from a Philly soul food cafe. Well I was pleasantly suprise by the atmosphere of the cafe. I was so used to eating soul food at more "casual" cafes. But Ms. Tootsie's was total new and welcomed experience! The decor was stunt and so elegant!!. Needless to say that the food was "Spot On". My mouth was in the "Dirty South" and my body was in pure elegance and they both were in heaven. Thank you Ms. Tootsie (Philly) for showing this Maryland a wonderful time. I will be back!!!

    A sinful delight

I recently took my friend to Ms. Tootsie's for a birthday gift. A better gift I couldn't have purchased. Every morsel was delightful. Between the two of us we tasted the caesar salad with salmon and the fried chicken (like momma used to make) and we had 4 of the best sides I have ever tasted at any soul food restaurant. I know the food is not for the calorie conscious but occasionally you must remind yourself why life is worth living!

Ms. Tootsie's the place to be

I dined at Ms. Tootsie's this past weekend and I have nothing but great things to say about it. From the time I arrived to the time I left the experience was great. I love the new atmosphere waiting in the RBL before dining. We waited a mere 20 minutes. What good restaurant don't you wait. We were escorted over to the dining area by the lovely Hostess Karen. She was pleasant and very accomodating. Once seated in the dining area. We were greeted by our Waitress Tammy. She was informative and also very knowledgeable about the selections on the menu. We asked her to recommend something and she suggested the three green lime chicken salad as the appetizer. Then she suggested the southern fried chicken breast with collard greens and that knock yo momma out macaroni & cheese. Of course that came with the hot corn muffins and the tropical blend iced tea. For dessert, Tammy recommended the Sweet Potato Cheesecake. We didn't finish it all, but it was definitely the bomb. We left the restaurant and went back over to the RBL for after dinner drinks where we were greeted by Rian the Manager who treated us with VIP service (she was three words, fab-u-lous). I recommend you try Ms. Tootsie soon. Its a definite must try for your calendars.

    More space

I just recently ate at Ms. Tootsie's for dinner The place is little, I am glad they expanded it which is very nice and roomy. The new place is beautiful. I will give the place 5 stars.
