Ok it could have been better

So I have been eating here for over 5 years but recently and I don't know maybe it's the cook but the quality is not what it use to be I had the smothered wings and the sauce was watery and the green beans were bland I expect so much more from this place because it's one of the only upscale black owned restaurants In center city

    Second visit but never again

I visited this restaurant with about 10 other people the first time and although pricey it was very good. I recently went back on 02/16/14 after seeing a play in the area: It was overcrowded, no place to wait but by the main entrance or if you could get to the crowded bar. A 2 hour wait so we ordered take out at the bar. Left and returned about 1/2 hour later meal not ready, waited another hour and 15 minutes before it was ready and that was after reminding the bartender 3 times. Go the food home to Delaware and the cabbage was undercooked, sweet potatoes were hard and tasted like apples and my smothered chicken wings still had feathers on them. I could not believe the difference and the food prices are not cheap. I paid $45 for 2 chicken wing dinners (4 chicken wings, 2 sides and a piece of cornbread) and 2 slices of sock it to me lemon pound cake which was the best part of the meal. Atmosphere inside is nice but to crowded no room. Will not be partionizing again.

Must Go - Best Soul Food Anywhere

Ms. Tootsie's is reasonably priced and has the absolute best soul food I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. The ambiance is perfect, the bathroom unusually funky, in a good way, and this is a great place to take out of town guests, which I plan on doing this very Saturday!

The Best Soul Food in Town!!!

Last night I went to Ms. Tootsies with my friends and it definitely was worth going. The food was simply amazing. I had the Creamy Cheesy Mac & Cheese with lobster as one of my sides and the lobster chunks were so tender and tasty it just melted in my mouth. The Seafood Lover's delight was such a huge portion I am looking forward to reheating and having as my lunch today. If you are looking for collard greens with a kick & lots of flavor they have the best. I definitely will be back.

    First & Last

First time, although I've heard negative things, I decided to try for myself. Food was ok (what I ordered) but the service is Very Poor (A Customer Service class is very much needed). Owner needs to rethink interview questions when hiring.

    Will not go back!!

Good; fried catfish, mac&cheese, fried chicken, yams. Not so good; service, salt content too high(greens, cabbage). Crab cake very salty and not lumb crab meat like i was told by the waitress. Do not order the shrimp&grits(we sent it back) it is a pile of non-creamy grits with some cheese sprinkled on top(not melted) and 5-6 fried shrimp on the plate, no sauce, gravy or onions. Hey chef less salt and try using old bay seasoning in the crab cakes .
